Major Problem

2 Limp Legs

Landlubber
Having played Seadogs and enjoyed it, i recently saw a game called Pirates of the Caribbean in my local game store for a tenner, realisng it was by bethesda softworks, the same people behind seadogs I decided to purchase it. I installed it on my laptop, however when i click new game, the screen goes back to desktop. My system requirements exceed the minimum requirements so why does this happen. I though it might not run on alaptop so i put it on my home comp but the same problem, I took the game back and exchanged it for another one thinking it might be a faulty disc, but no. The same problem happens, do you know how to fix this, and yes my homp comp system exceeds the minimum requirements.

This is annoying as I was looking forward to playing this game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Please open the engine.ini file and find tracefilesoff and below.
Set to:
tracefilesoff = 0
[script]
debuginfo = 1
codefiles = 0
runtimelog = 1

Then try again, and tell us if you have any *.log files in the folder (And if so, post 'em).

Looked in file system it said:

The method call is invalid For Example, a methods parameter may have an invalid value. Cannot create cube texture!

I had a problem like this. I dont really know how I fixed it, but the installation can have a Major Problem on your computer. If you said "Yes" to direct X in the installation, It'll say "Please insert disc 1", or something like that. If you do, It'll say "The wrong disc is in the drive. Please insert disc 2" After the direct x thing has stopped, and you finally get the thing installed, then It'll say "Please restart your computer" This is because you installed direct X, PotC does not need a re-boot of your computer to run properly. If you did this, then the Major Problems may be there. If you have a direct X higher than the requirements DONT install the direct X on PotC. If after re-installling PotC, and this doesnt work, mine ended up working after doing a complete system wipe and re-boot,and installing the game that way, but that was after a huge problem on my computer anyway, and nothing to do with PotC. Besides, I dont think that you want to do that anyway!

Otherwise, try The Build, it should solve many problems, but I dont think it can solve your cube texture one. The bug lies somewhere in the modules and textures by the sound of it. sorry I cant be of further help to you, but Im no NathanKell. I hope that your problem can be sorted soon.

Other people have had trouble with SIS videocards. About the only thing I can suggest is getting a new videocard (you can get a low-end one for ~$40 at newegg or something; POTC seems to work best with nvidia, trouble with ATI).

Try nvidia GeForce 4, mine is MX....but i think FX is better <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />
