Map pieces

I bought a treasure map and went to the cave where was treasure. Inside a chest among other things, I found "map piece (A)" and when I returned to the city, some guys attacked me.
Didn't get any logbook entries so I wonder is this some kind a quest or what?

Also one thing I figured out.
When those guys attacked me, it was in front of gate guards and they attacked me too. Then I reload and when those guys draw their swords I run with my sword sheated to desolate place where was no guards. I killed those guys and guards didn't attacked me and didn't even know that there was fighting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

Just keep the map piece for now. The next time you get a guy to sell you a treasure map, part b should be in the chest. If you equip part a or b after that they will combine to form a complete treasure map.
