Maps of Carabbean

ok ... I just got the game .... played Sid Myers Pirates ... like that one because the worl Map was larger than the world map in this game ..... is there a larger map to alteast let me know what direction to leave Port...... like if you leave Barbado's ... what direction would you need to set sail to reach Tortuga ? thank's for the help ... and in sea battles I seem to loose to often ... alway's restarting from the save.... any help in Gunnary would be helpful ...... I hate going to Davy Jone's Locker each time I try and do an assignment...... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

try looking at the map to know where tortuga is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> and i think that you are a bit over-confident in your ship. you shouldn't really try to defeat ships with a lugger. it's more of a run-away ship. you could try getting a good gunner in the tavern though. but still, i'd only recommend fighting with the lugger when you are an experienced pirate. a sloop does stand a fair chance in a fight, and a schooner is an excellent ship, especially for pirates. when you are pretty good in boarding, you could try getting a sloop that way, and capture the corvette in a mission you get from the falaise de fleur governor with the sloop. (it is very much possible) a good idea is trying to ram the corvette in hope of getting in the right position to board it. also: the captain of the corvette is a coward, so he will likely run away. if he does, and your ship is faster, (the corvette has a speed of 16 knots or so) you can approach it from behind, a little to the left or right to stay clear of his stern guns. if you aren't faster, take some chainshot along to destroy his sails. (note: if you are not using the build, you will have to aim manually with the chainshot. otherwise your gunners will aim too low.)

you HAVE to get the build. but i think it would be better if you can play ythe game a little before trying it, otherwise it could be a bit too overwhelming.

He must be using the Build. Tortuga wasn't in the original game. The worldmap in the Build is much larger than the one in the original game. And if you want a map: Press F2 and press the Map tab (upper right corner of the screen). That should help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> that map looks a bit strange since 14/5! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

it doesn't necessarily mean that he uses the build. he could also have read about it somewhere. but i guess he has got the build.

one more tip for the boarding approach: if you are sailing in the same direction as your opponent, and you can't shoot at him, he can't hit you either. this can be usefull when you are boarding a much more powerfull ship.

if you where wondering what's the best starting ship, i would say the bermuda sloop or the ketch. in my opinion, it's the bermuda sloop, but i think that the ketch is faster. the advantage of the bermuda sloop is it's hp, gun caliber (which more than weighs up against his amount of guns, which are few) and manuevrability. and it looks cool.

I know. But that is easily fixed. Open RESOURCE\INI\INTERFACES\map.ini and RESOURCE\INI\NEW_INTERFACES\map.ini and change <i>textureName = WorldMap\Sea\sea.tga</i> to <i><b>;</b>textureName = WorldMap\Sea\sea.tga</i>

by the way: tortuga is PART OF hispaniola. entering sailing mode at any place near hispaniola and using sail to to get there will work as well. oh: ye best be flying the pirate flag b'fore ye go there! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

ok ..... I give up ........ "UNCLE" ..... so far ... I've been sunk by a storm,(x's 3) blown out of the water by cannon fodder, Sail's ripped to shred's by grapeshot..... can't seem to make it out of Barbados without getting sunk......

while in port.... the starting money that you get ... and if you sell the first ship you have .. there isn't enough money to buy a little faster boat .. like Schooner ..... although some of you have said that the first ship is a fast ship... to start I've usualy updated the sails to get better speed... I've left the hull alone and not added copper siding, I've hired a Navigator, to help with speed ... and still find that in a 11 kt wind the ship only sails at 3.4 kt. in world view all other ship's appear to fly ... while mine pokes along like a pregnant whale ..... now don't get me wrong .. I wouldn't have bought the game if I didn't intend to play it.... I think I'm going to try a different starting point ..... other than british .... once again .... any help would be nice as ale... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> little confused here? Where are we AOP or POTC?
This happens a lot as one gets older!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Well Blow me down ........... I swear some day's my mind isn't all here in this place ... I've figured out why my ship was sailing so slowwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyyy ............. hit the "W" key in world map ... and hey she sail's now ......... {s duh} as far as gettin older ...... this Modified 1962 Model Ford (and no its not fast on race days ...... it's f**ked over rebuild dodge) I was able to bord a Schooner on my first try tonight ... Woooohoooo (big head swell) altho I think it was a lucky capture .. cause my sward fighting suck's duck's ... just befor signing off the game tonight ... I lost the schooner .. aparently I went into a hostile port .. and was bombarded like what Geo. Washington did to the British in Boston Harbor from Dorchester Hight's ..... gosh darn Cannons from Ft. Ticondaroga ... If my history's right .... wasn't that a British held fort.. and we took thier own guns to start off the Revolution ... Used there own guns against em ... well .. it's 4 am EST. and I think I'll win back that Schooner ...

Uh? You can't put copper siding onto a ship at all. Could you please elaborate on which game you are referring to. I know quite a lot about Pirates of the Caribbean, but I am quite sure there is no Ft. Ticondaroga in the game at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

You might be posing in the wrong topic.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> Sounds like AOP to me.
