Maturins Weather Mod

I was suggesting a direct link here in the forum, if need be I can make my way into the FTP, but some folks don't have the first clue what an FTP is, let alone how to use one. **grins**

I figured a linked file right in the discussion would make any future questions of 'how do I' non-existant.

Ah I see then. I haven't got the slightest clue how to make a direct link to it though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Are you looking for <a href="ftp://potc@piratesahoy.net:p1rate5ah0y@ftp.piratesahoy.net/Maturin/Mat%20-%20B14a7Plus-Weather%20Mod%20v1.01.rar" target="_blank">Something like this?</a>

yep, that does it. Thanks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Tried the mod out over the weekend using Build 13 Final.

SPLENDID ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> (Have a gold star and a house point - if you are old enough to know what they are - they are good though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> If not, have a major pat on the back for a effort that has produced a real result. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> )

Thank you.

Afraid I don't know it, but I'll take your word for it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The gold star was stuck onto the page of your book and the house point went to your school house tally to increase its score. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

HARRY POTTER STYLE! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

A toggle on fog? Now that is BRILLIANT!
I have sailing around wanting to look at something (flag, make a screenshots)
only to run into fog. Just costs me so much time.
It'll be great to turn it off for these kinds of testing purposes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
And thanks for the small version! I'll have a look at it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

Which files are unused now? I like to remove useless files from the Build 14 Alpha's.
Otherwise it becomes confusing for the modders. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Not at all.. glad to oblige. The unused files are the specific weather initializers. Files: {DayStorm.c Day.c Morning.c Night.c Special.c}

I fixed the fog in V1.01, it's much more reasonable now and I actually like it. And I hated the fog before <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

both, install v1.01 first then v1.02 on top

The 1.02 files are just the program files for easier downloading since I didn't change the textures

oh, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> thanks

I might just port it to AoP too, looking at the updated engine it has much more potential for what I'd like to do.

That would be awesome, though I'm tempted to say wait for City of Abandoned ships later this year. I'm just wanting to be sure they will fully unlock the files for us to tinker with once its released. Otherwise we'll have to wait for an underground group to fix that for us.

Anyhow, I'm thinking that anything we could bring over to AOP can just make that game better still. Supermod is nice, but still has major bugs. SoFS seems to be a real nice compromise, with some very cool features, like additional item slots and stuff. And overall, I like the capabilities that 2.5 has over the 2.0 engine.

More feature rich with as you stated, a lot of potential for prettying up.

Thanks a lot again! I'll have a look at v1.02.
I tried to merge v1.01 with
Alpha 8, which works.
But I'm missing the sky textures, of course.
What could I do to restore the sky textures?
Preferrably without downloading those textures.
After all, I already have the AoP sky textures. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Never mind. Trying to download the file now.
I might manage it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Ah, I didn't realize it was to be released so soon. I had it in my mind over a year away, you're probably right then.

If you change the Sky.Dir values in WhrSetAzmAng.c in /Weather/Init to use the default directories and do the same with WhrInitValues.c also in /Weather/Init it should work. I modified several of the textures though, to get better skies for dawn and dusk and a couple night skies as well. Also there are a couple original PotC textures used that have been modified, so it is no longer simply a copy of the textures from AoP.
