Maxed out, system specs needed?

Merciless Mark

Build mod - Master Gunner
Storm Modder
What kind of system specs does one need to be able to run AoP on all settings maxed out, and having good performance all the time?

My specs:
dual 2.2ghz Xeon processors
1Gb RDRAM
GeForce 6800GS 256mb Agp8x
80Gb IDE harddrive.

I only get real good performance when out at sea and batteling few ships. i seem to get lower performance against huge fleets and in towns.

Im also experiencing that when ive played for a while i start getting like a small stutter that occurs every 5-10 seconds, wich progressivly gets worse until i totally reboot the computer. this particular problem with the stutter seems to indicate that im runing out of ram memory space. since the problem clears up after reboot. wich is wierd, because AoP is listed as needing a minimum of 256mb ram the box recommends 1Gb, but some gaming reviews recommend 512mb.
How much will another 1gb set of memory improve performance for me?
(not i am currently running all maxed out, as anything lower than 1600x1200 in AoP looks like shit in my opinion lol)

If yer runn'n XP,which ye probly are, adding another !GB memory probly help some,Runn'n AOP at 1600 x 1200 is probly yer problem mate, I don't have AOP yet, but with Silent hunter111 an harbour traffic mod with High REZ mod,I get a little stutter around high traffic ports, not so bad as te reboot computer though.
P4 3.2 GHZ
GF6600GT 128 MB
1GB DDR
Win XP Pro

hey matey

i don't think your system is maxed out someway, at least i think
Because i can play AOP at the highest res (1600x1200) with all details on
and i only have a

P4 2.0GHZ
1 GB DDR
9800 XT 256mb

Win Xp Pro

But the laggy thing i also get after playing for a long while. Somehow it doesn't get worse so i can play the gmae with the laggy thing, but don't have to suffer from sudden reboots.

Maybe there is soms bug in the game?

yeah i can play with 1600x1200 too, but it gets very choppy/laggy/low framerate on land, in big sea battles and in sea battles near coastlines.

It plays fine on my sys specs,I turned down grass amount/detail and I have sea detail set to about 1/4.

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
1gb Kingston pc3200 DDR 400
Asus ATI RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition
Win XP Pro

ah yes, but i want to be able to push everything to the max and have good performance everywhere <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

The game runs smoothly, with EVERYTHING turned up on maximum for me....

EXCEPT when alot of cannon balls hit something... Then it just comes to a grinding halt and shows 1 frame every 5 seconds until all the cannon balls have hit the target... then it goes back to being perfectly smooth.

Anyone else have this issue?

Arrr! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Fred Bob's rig be as follers:

System Specs:
Intel Xeon 1.70GHz
1024MB RAM
GeForce FX 5500 with 92.91 drivers
WinXP SP2

Plays AoP wid all settings maxed at 1600x1200 rez no problems! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

My Laptop's a Dell Inspiron XP (first generation)

Pentium 4, 3.4 Ghz
1 Gigabytes of RAM (450 Mhz)
Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro, 256VRAM

The game runs smooth as silk with everything on max, just not when it comes to cannon balls =(

I know that stutter you are talking about, and I feel your pain. Mine usually occurs at 2 second intervals, and is highly annoying when you are trying to pan the camera around your ship at sea. It seems to start up when I'm in town, which is where I have the most lag. Also, using the speed-up time button seems to make it worse. I usually don't have to reboot the computer, though, just exit the game and come back in. But if you've got a rig like that and are still having problems, there's no hope for me.

I'm playing with sea detail to about 1/4 and no grass. (Is it just me, or are the graphic options a joke?)

I think I'll try running defrag and see if that does anything. (I just can't stop playing the game long enough).

My crappy specs:
2.53 GHz P4
256 MB ATI RADEON 9550
1.5Gb RAM (I'd upgrade to 2, I just haven't got the loot)
180GB HD
1024 X 768

I have noticed that game requirements on boxes today don't mean much.

Well i haven't played much since my XP is bugged and the HDD runs in PIO mode, any way it plays fine here on max graphics:

AMD AthlonXP 2000+ (1.67GHz)
Gigabyte Radeon9700Pro (128MB 256bit)
RAM 1GB DDR400 SAMSUNG(working on 333MHz cuz of overclock)

I do play in 800x600 cuz my monitor is 15inch tho <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> haven't found any slowdowns anywhere.

yeah, but were talking 1600x1200 here.

i did however manage to get rid of the hickups, no i just have slowdowns and low framerates in some towns and in larger fleet battles. wich i wish i could figure out how to solve.

but as i said the hickups that appear after a while of playing are gone, i took and uninstalled my graphic card and removed every single trace of the Nvidia drivers, everything. and then made a clean reinstall of forceware 92.91. i also disabled some of the Nvidia startup items.
