melee bounty hunters in town

10k bounty - 2 men
20k - 3 men

I found them usefull to exercise fencing skills for me and officers.
I know number grows with bounty.
I know that when they become to much to handle you can go and pay to reset bounty to 0 , relation to neutral/hostile(depending of how many times before).
Reseting thing also helps tunning down the number of ships that will come after you on sea and that's very good because you can grab some big ships ( instead of a fleet of 6 big ships at 100k bounty , you'll get a couple (1-2) random from frigate up (class 1 too) ).I mean you'll be able to handle them and get the money back.
Usualy after paying takes 15 days to restore relations , use those days to get your money back and you have a good bussines in hand cause you can repeat the whole thing.
So keeping the bounty down to a reasonable amount always help and allows you to build fortune.

When bored with the game a little I'll add this to wiki.

Can you fight them in a town? So far the guars side with anyone esle who attack me inside the town including the robbers and pirates...

They do attack in town and on mooring places as far as I know.
Guards side with who didn't attack them by mistake or with them(accidentaly) if you are in enemy town.
Usualy guards don't care about this kind of things <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> - your fight with the bounty hunters.

If they get into fight and the town was friendly to you and they attack you is because either you or you officers hit/shot them by mistake.

Recently I met in a friendly town a captain who sold his traveler in a slavery. There was not a single option in the dialogue so when you start to talk you finish in a battle. I am absolutely sure no guards were around so no accidentaly hit and the captain attacked me first (and I was alone); nevertheless the guards sided with him.

I don't know about that but I'm sure about bounty hunters.
Also pay attention at gunshots. Also maybe that the guards told you to sheed weapon but you refused.

I put off sword for test and runed away from bountyhunters and into some guards and the bounty hunters hit the guard by mistake so the guards got on them.It was hell of a fun <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .All the town a battlefield. And everybody was swearing and I was there watching and laughing.
