i have a laptop with shared video and winxp. when i play pirates it crashes at startup or within a few minutes. i notice that my cpu goes to zero after a few seconds and the game just sits there spinning the wheel......
1) ok first open the task manager by hiting ctrl+alt+delete-
2) now start the game-
3) when the first video plays click or hit spacebar, this skips it and starts playing the atari logo----right when you see the atari logo press alt+tab to switch to the task manager-
4) hit the processes tab and wait until pirates.exe is using zero cpu(wait like 10 seconds or so)
5) right click on pirates.exe and set priority to above normal or high. you should start seeing pirates.exe using he cpu again. if not just wait `5-10` seconds then alt+tab back to the game and you should be at the menu.
i dont know if this will help anyone, but the game was freezing during startup for me and this fixes it, i have to do this everytime but it works great.[/u]
