Minor Cosmetic Changes

but POTC is geting to its limitations (and by that i mean that it needs one hell of alot of space), COAS should be fresh start insted of just an graphical upgrade of what we have in the new horizons mods

I think that most of the new modders do not understand HOW MUCH EFFORT and work in this project went, that you just cannot simply abandon it. This game has been modded since 2003, the modding has been going on for more than 6 years! And we turned in into a complete different game. So FIRST it HAS TO BE FINISHED.

And Pieter is right. We have so many good stuff that already can be ported. And if you started with porting, everything would go a lot quicker, instead of insisting that we should just leave it and go do something else. This is just not how the cookie crumbles. It is like the whole modding community changes from hardcore fan/modders to quickly satisfied modders. That is a bit of a shame. Don't get me wrong you are doing a good job, but just look how we have done this.

i know there has been a lot of time in the mods, thats what made them great and why this forum is still running, you guys have been doing things the makers of the game found impossible, but that doesnt take away that its quiet a big file.

dont get me wrong, i love what you guys did and are still doing, but PotC is starting to take over my rig

Limitations? What limitations? Sure there's some game engine limitations, but for the most part the only limitations we've got
are our our imagination and the available people to work on the game.
And every MB of the modpack adds something worthwhile. Yes, it's big and you should be happy that it is!

CoAS should be a new start? Wha... you're suggesting we should drop all the good stuff we have? You're kidding me! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

There's a difference between "I don't play PotC" and "I won't play PotC". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Seriously, if you can find PotC somewhere, PotC + Build Mod really DOES come recommended! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
Despite the older graphics, there's a LOT of gameplay value, some of which is in CoAS, but a lot of it which isn't.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Feh, I never threw it away, I could just dig out the old CDs. If I really, <i>really</i> wanted to. Persuade me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" />

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Just like I keep telling you people to stick all modifications together in one modpack right from the beginning,
rather than making a mess with dozens of files first and then try to clean it up by making a modpack after all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
Ignoring PotC = wasting experience and resources and not making a modpack right from the beginning = risk of good mods ending up lost.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Oh but who would be fitting for such a task, such responsibility? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

i didnt mean that, i'm just saying that perhaps we should not port everything we have in new horizons to CoAS

There is no need to abandon anything if you just look at the obvious..
Some of you have PoTC, and some don't.

Simple Solution.......

If you have PoTC, continue modding it, we can simply port PoTC stuff to CoAS, which is what i am doing right now, already got the Yacht ingame with original SFX and Smoke, had to make a new Image for it for the menus. But so far so good, just needs the LowPolyCrew remapping.

When I started on putting mods together, I really didn't know much of coding.
Especially when using WinMerge, it really isn't so hard to put things together as long as the things to put together remain simple.
And at this point, I can assure you that all modifications made for CoAS are still really simple compared to what we have done in the PotC Build mod.
All it takes is for someone to decide to do it. In fact, it is quite possible for multiple people to collaborate on such an effort.

ectualy it takes quiet some time to download and install everything at ones

You can let your computer do the downloading while you're doing something else.
Same for installing. Just takes some waiting and clicking a couple of buttons every now and then.

But indeed the size does provide a problem, especially for me, since I have to upload it, which HURTS!

I wasn't serious about giving up on PotC, no one should abandon their work at the end! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

I'm all for a unified modding effort, so the little bit I've contributed so far can be used or discarded however the community here sees fit. As of now I've just begun experimenting with COAS to see what is and isn't possible for me to fix/change. I'm going to sift through the PotC files I just downloaded and see what all the fuss is about...
