Mobile RADEON `9000-9700` Users

Just curious if any users of the Mobile Radeon `9000-9700` series have had issues with the game crashing. As of now, everyone I've talked to with these boards has a similiar experience in regards to the game crashing during the loading process (usually after the Atari intro). I'm just trying to find a common thread between those of us having problems so if you are a user of one of the above graphics cards please let me know whether or not you're having difficulties. If we can isolate a part of the problem I think it would help immensely. Thanks in advance.

I have an Ati Radeon 9600 pro and i used to have frequent crashes in the game. I found out that it has to do with the video card drivers. I was using a version 4.11 at that time. After reverting it back to 4.9, there was absolutely no more crashes at all!!! Try using back the older drivers and maybe that will work for you. It worked for me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Well, I have an ATI Mobiility Radeon 9200, and every time I played the game, it would crash to the desktop immediately after the intro. I spent a day or two surfing the message boards for answers and I came upon two solutions.

First, try installing the Omega drivers for your ATI card. These can be found at <a href="http://www.omegadrivers.net" target="_blank">http://www.omegadrivers.net</a>. I installed them and my game actually runs now, and runs without glitches.

If that doesn't work, try installing the 3D Analyzer program from <a href="http://www.`tommti-systems`.com/`main-Dateien`/files.html" target="_blank">http://www.`tommti-systems`.com/&#...#96;/files.html</a>. Run it, Select the Pirates! exe, and select the "Emulate HW TnL Caps" box. Then run the game through the 3D Analyzer program and it should work. It may not look right, but at least it runs.

Either of these fixes should work, although I suggest the Omega drivers one honestly, as you won't experience any graphical problems at all (presumably.).

Any of you have a 32mb 9200? Have you been able to make Pirates! to work?

I've got ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64MB VRAM and my game has crashed only twice after a very long gaming spree (about five or six hours) and only when I've had the video settings on maximum. No crashes with lower settings yet.

Other problems do exist:

1. the ground in land battle sequences is black (i.e. there is no green grass texture on the ground)

2. Same black ground occurs also when I'm walking on land searching for treasures. However, when the texture changes (to a light blue or very light green) it will appear. The problem seems to exist only with the standard green grass texture...

ive fot radeon 9000 and my game wont even install pirates

I've got ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64MB VRAM and used Omega 2.5.76 drivers to run the game ...... There is no "black ground" in land battles or treasure hunting sequences but there is no way i can play the dance sequences ... the sequence begins in slow motion and then just freezes ... No romance for me i guess <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

I am running a ATi Mobility Radeon 9000 with 128Mb of RAM and I cannot get the game to load, it says "Unable to initialize DirectX." I am running DirectX 9.0c. It could be that my machine is screwed from a completely unrelated DirectX problem.

I updated my drivers and now the R9000 play the game without any problems. The green grass appears in the land battles and no crashes with even the highest settings.

Some problems and flashes with the shadows, though, that weren't there before the upgrade...

I have a Radeon 9600 with 128mb RAM and am basically having all kinds of problems from the title screen on. I can see the menu select buttons, but not the description, so figuring out how to start the game was just a matter of trial and error. the opening video ran ok, but then the graphics were a complete disaster as soon as the game actually started. I can sometimes see what's going on by hitting Ctrl+Esc and going to my desktop and then going back into the game again. But it's unplayable as is.

I have a radeon 9600 pro and 512 mb ram I can play about 10 minutes and it freezes

I have a fire GL2 (aka 9600) and it crashes to desktop after the Atari Logo. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Will try the Omega drivers. Thanks for nothing Atari.

i had the radeon 9000 pro, and found the problem (after a very frustrating few days) was that it wasnt directx 9 compatible. aaaarggghhhh.....
so i bought a new graphics card (dx9 compatible, obviously!) and have been pirating happily since! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

I have a laptop with radeon igp 345m (64 mb vram) and the game constantly crashes to death, giving a blue screen, saying something with physical memory dump, restarting the machine and giving serious error warning when it opens windows xp. Drives me nuts..

Anyone else experiencing this frustrating error? Any suggestions?
