Mod: A few PotC ships I added to AoP

Easy buddy, no need to get so defencive. I appreciate the work you've done, and it really is the one thing that is making me play this game again. I was just hoping there might be a way to fix those things. Not a huge problem really. I'll meddle with the textures and try to see where goes what.

Install Age of Pirates to your hard drive from your disk but don't patch it. Remove the disk. Then follow these steps:

1) <a href="http://www.galaxyproductions.net/downloads/aopsupermod.html" target="_blank">Supermod for AoP version 1 - 5 download link</a>

- download Cyberop's main v 1.0 mod plus all his 5 updates.

2) Follow his install instructions, the first is an executable, the rest are simply extracting his files and then copy and paste them into your main /Programs/Playlogic folder

then

3) Download my mods, Playlogic, Resource, and the 6 extra ships. Extract the Playlogic <b></b>first<b></b>, copy the program and resource folders over your own in /Programs/Playlogic/Age of Pirates-carribean tales/ and again copy and paste each Program and resource folder from the downloads into there.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Sorry bout that Balck, lol. Glad it makes a difference in your game.

Kain...download to a working folder, like my documents. Extract the download there. Open it, and copy each folder separetly into your main AoP folder.........and click yes to overwriting each one.

let me know if it works for ya <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

It is quite alright. I've been tinquering with the skins somwhat, still have more work to do. One question though, can I edit models with blender? Thinking of making the 74 less tall at the stern and give its hull a rounder shape, ala Man-o-War.

do i merge folders as well

and are the new ships avaliable from the shipyard so i know if its working

@Balck: Right on heheh. As for editing the AoP models, read the top post of this thread in the PotC forum. I'll be checking into this myself. They use 3d Max studio, and a programmer released a utility for editing the GM files, ( the same for AoP). I guess using his plug-in should let you open and edit them. Let me know how it works out for ya.
Here's the link <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3310" target="_blank">GM Models link</a>
He has a link to the program in the fist post of that page.

Kain,

Hmm, strange errors. I find when that happens, the best way is to honestly uninstall the game, re-install from the disk, remove the disk. Then install Cyberop's Supermod version 1 through 5 updates. Run the game to make sure all is working well. Don't patch the game using Akella's patches, the good parts are already included in Cyberop's mod and he bypasses Starforce.

After that, you take my downloads, open the playlogic zip folder, copy + paste "Programs" and "Resource" folder over your main playlogic install folder ( Make sure your in the main folder where you see the "Program" and "Resource folder"), click yes to overwriting the files. Do the same thing for the other 2 mods. All should be well if you follow that route.

Then what I do is rename the main Playlogic folder to something like "Playlogic II", and then re-install the game + the Supermod, and make that my main "game modding" folder, where whatever i edit, i can simply go to the first , untouched folder and replace whatever i had made a mistake editing in the second folder ( like a backup if you will).

Hopefully i didn't confuse you with all that, hehe. Honestly, re-install with no patches , then supermod +5 updates, test run the game, then install my mods.

Lemme know how it turns out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hi so just to clarify when i am copying the files i get a window were it asks if i want to merge folders i click yes then i get a message saying do i want to 1.overwrite and the replace the files allready there, 2. dont move, 3. or keep both and the new file gets renamed do i choose the first option
thanks for helping

Yup, you got it. Just click yes to overwriting both folders separately. Thats all there is to it. As for the shipyard, i edited the utils C file so that the size of the ships show up according to the size of the shipyard.( or size of the village-town etc).
You can bypass that simply by editing that file yourself, or going into /Age of Pirates/Program/Characters/Character Init.C -text file. Scroll down to Blaze's stats and change the starting Lugger to any ship of your choice.

Well, here's a first go at it. The model if by Thomas. Still a work in progress. The color of the hull is just escaping me, and the stern is not fully done. Think there's a bit too much going on between the windows.

<a href="http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=frigateof8.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5559/frigateof8.th.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

Still cant find where the cannons and on deck textures are stored.

Hi thanks alot i got the mod working great mod Can i also ask you how you have the union jack navy flag instead of the george cross because i want that one as well. and i saw it on the pictures of the new ships in the shipyard. Also is anyone considering putting the flying dutchman into the game because that would be great.

Kain,

I could add both the blue ensign jack and the Flying Dutchman if you wish. Filefront seems to take a day or so to review submitted files, so I was wondering if your familiar with using the piratesahoy FTP for downloading? If so, I could upload it to you faster and with a tiny download size.

(There is a sticky here in AoP forum about using the FTP)

also says pass hidden if this means anything i dont know.

Hi, I loaded on the supermod to version 5 and then your fantastic playlogic mod with the missing black pearl textures but the black pearl does not seem to come up in any of the shipyards. All the other ships do (your ships excluding the black pearl) Am I missing something?

Crymzyn,
Hmm, the name of the BPearl in the shipyard is "Sloop of War" in the first of my mods. The last one changes the name to "Blackpearl" in the shipyard list........perhaps recheck in game? Two other ways to check if the ship is in the game : Open /Program/Ships/Ships H.-text file and look to see if its listed.open the ships Init.C-text file and scroll near bottom and open /Resource/Models/Ships/ and see if the Blackpearl1 folder is present. Thanks by the way <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Kain,
Yea the FTP servers seem to be closed at the moment for some reason. They seem to be off and on at a regular basis. Keep trying. I noticed the PotC FlyingDutchman model i used is very low texture quality in game, but can be interesting considering the history ( the entire hull is a dark seaweed green, perhaps suitable for a historic ghost ship? :p)

When I have more time I will open the PotC GM files and look for the sailorpoints, if they are there, and add them to the ships I ported over eventually.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Hi

I am just wondering will the flying dutchman be remade because i installed it and the texttures are quite low like you said. just wondering if it will be remade.
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

also are the mods made by thomas the terror compatible with your mods because i would like to use them as well

Kain,

Cool, glad to hear you added her <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I uploaded the Dutchman and the English blue ensign to filefront if ya want it.
Thomas's skins are compatible, most definitely. Love his uniforms etc. He also added the Blackpealr and the brig_rn,with sailorpoints to AoP, which you already have installed.
I tried to install a few of Thomas's new uniform skins, but have gotten corrupt downloads from Filefront. Let me know how ya make out.
