just thought this would be a cool idea. it's only a tiny mod though! this mod adds an icon to the ship and shipyard interfaces to tell you where each ship was built (if it has a specific nation).

Problem! Whenever I try to download it (by `right-clicking` and choosing "Save as.."), it's corrupted. Is that a problem on my end, or with your host?

Hrm. I don't think it's a problem with your upload, but I'm still unable to download it properly. It downloads 27kb, and when I try to open it, I get a corrupted error. Is there any way you could upload it to the PA! public ftp area?

Thanks Cat, I appreciate that. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'm not sure why I wasn't able to download it directly, but the same thing happened with the PA! Sails pack (I had to DL it from PA! rather than Kieron's own server).

Haven't downloaded it yet, but it sounds kinda neat... What purpose does it serve? People have talked before about assigning nations of origins to ships, but I forget why they wanted it. Something to do with fleet sizes, or how much a nation would pay to buy a ship... Does this affect or reflect any of that?
 
all ships already have a nation of origin. if you look in ships_init.c you can see that each ship is defined five times, once for each nation, with slightly different stats e.g. the spanish ones tend to be bigger, the english ones tend to be manoeuvrable, etc. i just thought it would be nice to be able to see which design each ship was `in-game`, so the player can see why two manowars have different stats, for example.

what i discovered after adding it was that you can only get dutch ships at a dutch shipyard, only french ships at a french shipyard, etc. i think there should be at least <i>some</i> foreign ships available at each one...

One minor question, Kieron. What happens with the custom ships that don't have specified nations of origin? I haven't played in a few days, so I haven't had a chance to check out your mod, but I'm curious about that.
 
well you get a neutral (plain) flag, and instead of saying 'british design' or 'spanish design' or whatever, it says 'individual design' <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

I finally got it installed and checked it out in the game--GREAT idea, Kieron! Very `well-implemented` mod. I especially love being able to see what nation built the ships I capture!
 
Yeah, this is one of the better mods I have seen for potc...

This is nice, Kieron, I finally got it into the game, and I like it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
 
whenever i press the link it come's back to this topic <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> and the FTP doesn't seem to work either

BTW has that ship bug been fixed (the bug that your screen get's collored and "hangs" a bit ?
