More questsions and wishes about ships and cannons....

Ok,

So I managed to get into a fight where my ship was severly damaged.

I lost so much of my cannon that my ship is useless as a fighting vessel.
Where can I get more cannon.

I cannot transfer cannon from other ships as the interface is rather annoying because it is so limited in functionality.

The ship status screen can only be used for changing your flagship and renaming.

I want to be able to change my flagship in port, look at ship specs and transfer cargo and cannon between the ships.

Please help, I need cannon for my favourite ship. You also cannot buy it anywhere.

Highly frustrating.

Regards,Gian

Bootstrap Bill,
I wonder if this will work; If you have other ships and you want to transfer the cannons on those ships to your flagship, go to a port, sell your cannons at the merchant's and then go to the shipwright sell your extra ship, then go back to the merchant and buy back your cannons and they'll be on your flagship.

Either that or adjust the cargo after a fight to make certain that you have the number of cannon you want first, and then food, and then any other cargo. It could be you have too much cargo aboard and you can't take anymore cannons because there is no more room.

I've noticed that, when I have lost cannon in a sea battle, that after I capture the enemy ship, and even if I do not keep it, as long as I load 40 cannons before I click out of that screen, the next time I go into a fight, my large frigate has 40 guns at the beginning of the fight.
I hear what you're saying though, on the limitation of the functionality in the game set up.
Hope this is helpful <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

The stuff is automatically transfered between ships. If you have extra cannons, they will go to your flagship, until you have the max number of cannons that your flagship will hold. If you change flagships, all the cannons you have will transfer to the new flagship, up to the max number for that flagship. As far as the other cargo goes, it is distributed amongst all the ships in the fleet. If you decide to sell a ship, anything that ship is carrying will automatically be redistributed to the other ships in the fleet, providing there is still room to haul that stuff.

What you have to remember is that when you capture enemy ships and decide what cargo to keep and what to throw away, the numbers on the left side of the equation represent _all the stuff_ that your fleet carries, not just the flag ship. So when you capture a ship, you better make sure that you get their remaining cannons (with the rest of the cargo) if you managed to lose some in the battle. You do that by moving them to the left side of the screen. If you don't do that, they will be thrown overboard even if you keep the captured ship.

For some reason people expect this to be more complex than it is. There's really no need to manage cargo between the ships, since that is done automarically, like bigchief said. You only worry about the _total cargo_ of your fleet.

That must be why we have a quartermaster to handle these things, so we can spend more time practicing our dance moves. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Big Chief, do you have a dog named Roger? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Sorry everyone else, but I have a suspicion that I have just encountered my nephew. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
