moves in `land-battles`

Sioux

Landlubber
Sail ho,

During `land-battles` I noticed that when having 2 moves and moving with the 1st move into the woods, the second move is lost. Same thing when the first move is a long range attack (buccaneers). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Did anyone experience this too? I found nothing in the manual <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> explaining this "feature". <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Many thanks for your help.

Yes, that's normal. I think I'm right in saying that the one about moving into the woods is in the English manual. Not sure about the long range attack one though. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Perhaps ye kin consider dat it be takin' one whole turn tew reload thar muskets! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Woods reduce the move and the damage. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

On that note

why is it I can only move one or two yet the enemy seem to move from one end of the map to the other in one move?

Cheers

Only noticed two moves by enemy units in me games mate, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Tew kep better eye on yer enemies move, be turnin' on de grid (Shift > Num4), so's ye kin keep track! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Truth be, Skull, me matey, Fred Bob has seen de enemy seem tew move 3 squares on occasion an' cain't be sure exactly why either! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Usually it be de Calvary, but sometimes dem Injuns also! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

You move your buccaneers????? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

What for? Park them on top of the highest hill, keep your pirates a few spaces left or right of them, then fire at the enemy as they come up the hill. They charge the buccs and ya pirates flank the enemy for double points. I've defeated a 540 enemy Panama with 230 men like that, and only had one pirate group rout. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Indeed, you rarely have to move your buccaneers (once you have formed a line of defence/slaughter with them), but sometimes it becomes necessary for me if I've calculated the enemy movements incorrectly or just want to change the location of my men for other reasons.

Also, for the final destruction of the last enemies, it is fun to step up to them for maximum damage before you fire your muskets...

3 Moves,thar cheat'n an ye knows what ya do te cheaters <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I like to back my bucks up one then fire. Gives them one more shot at the enemy, if you time it right. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Has anyone had many instances of their Bucks missing shots? Mine haven't been shooting straight the past `2-3` land battles. Do I need to cut back on my rum rations or what? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

You are just not seeing the graphics of them shooting, due to a bug or some such. They still shoot, however, and you see the flag of the enemy unit deteriorating....

Thanks Wolfwood <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
