My Custom Sails. . . Anyone Interested?

The answer is that I made them and I've designed a bunch of other different custom sails. I would like to know if anyone is really interested in them. I have made them in about 8 different colors so there are a lot. Is it worth the tedious effort involved in making them all into .tx files for the game? Click the link below to view a picture of just a few of them. In addition to these I have all of the nations in the new colors as well as a bunch of religious ones (in several creeds). Also, if anyone has any naval images from the bucanneer era please give me a link to them. I have not been able to find many authentic ones from the 16th and 17th centuries. I would alos welcome some of your own designs. Installing these sails would require giving up a color of torn sail since there is not option for them in the build mod. I would explain in a readme.
I have very little time to make these but I will be happy to make some if there are requests for them. You've made many work with those sails it would be too bad to let it unused, more over that's fine work and any supplementary choice and addition in the game is always welcomed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Adding white, black or red sails is pretty easy. Adding other colours would be more tricky though. Actually; I don't know how to add those differently coloured ones... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
I would very much like to add any piratey sails into the game. Especially some with the PotC logo. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
i would like to add a suggestion: for the British Royal Navy Fans, could you make white sails with the following pic in a shield shape?
or a flag for those who prefer that.
personally, i would prefer a flag and sail set for the neutral flags and pirate sails set.

I had to replace three colors of torn sails with the whole custom sails. It's quite simple, I just renamed them. If you could recode the sails interface to replace the "BUYABLE SAILS" button with a CUSTOM button and also add a custom color sail button it should work (if you know your way around that mod, I tried but couldn't figure it out). The best sails to replace are the torn sails since they are the only ones not used by AI ships. Red/Whole is also a good option. I like to be the only one in the game with green sails.

Yes, it is very easy. It is just a matter of renaming files and swapping them for types of sails you, AND the computer, do not use.

For those that are BRN fans, I have the crests of Sir Francis Drake and the heraldry of the House of Tudor (Henry VIII, Elizabeth I) and the House of Stewart (Edward I, George I -I think-)

ATTN: It looks like there is an interest. It may take a while to complete so please be patient since I do not have a great deal of spare time these days. To aleviate that, I may release them in waves. That way you guys can start using them ASAP. Like I said, if there are any requests just let me know. I am very interested in some Dutch symbols as well as Portugese and pretty much any other navy of the era. I may also release a set of American ones for my countrymen despite there being a good 70-80 years before there is such a place. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
You guys are welcome to them as soon as I can get them out.

could you upload it on sails to the FTP with instructions on how to replace white/pirate sails?
 
I'm going to start transfering them to playable files pretty soon. I'll make sure this one is in the fist batch and upload it. I may even release a template and a tutorial, its a pretty simple process so I'm sure it will be short. Keep an eye out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> I'll post it here when it's ready to go.

p.s: as a royal navy fan and ranking officer in game, you could probably guess i'd like it on white sails, though it would be best if you could make it for white/ pirate only, since there isn't a pirate ingame that has white sails with an emblem

It took me a week or so, but I finally converted all of my sail designs (49 in all) into tx files in 10 different colors. I love variety, but the size kind of got away from me. The file is nearly 45MB so downloading might take a while. Sorry about that. The tutorial became a lot more wordy than I would have liked too. Don't be discouraged by that though. Most of what is in there are detailed explainations so there is no confusion over why certain things are the way they are. Just remember that it really is just a matter of renaming files and replacing existing ones.

I want to upload it onto Pirates Ahoy but I don't know how to really. When it comes to uploading my work onto websites I'm kind of a noob. Can anyone help me out?

no offense, they are good, and we are modding PoTC to become more fun, but i do think we should stick to some degree of authenticity.
 
but you are a realism nut as much as i am a BRN fanatic!
as for uploading onto the FTP, as long as you know where it is, you just copy, paste it onto the FTP, and wait a little while while it copies it onto the FTP.
don't forget to put your name on it though.
 
You can use <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/ftp_commander.zip" target="_blank">FTP Commander</a> to put files on the PA! FTP. In this version of the program, the PA! FTP is already added, so you just need to double-click the PA! FTP.
 
Only 5-6 jolly rogers already in the build could be called "authentic". But whether they do or they don't go into the build, it really doesn't matter. Anyone can use them by downloading, installing, and pick/choosing for themselves. I just hope I've done something people will enjoy. Just my little give back since I've enjoyed the work of others.
BTW, if you're only looking at the picture from above you should download the file and take a look at the ones I've added. There are waaaaay more to be seen. Here are the rest on green sails.
