My game stop working.

My game stop working today. After my adjusting deck firing in Modpack some runtime error appeared and my game stop working. So, I decided to reinstall the game. I regularly reinstalled it, then cleared all the registry by my two good programs yet and installed the game anew. In the end of installation when registration appeared I use the button cancel insteat of quit because I usually don´t register my game. Then some notice appeared I refused the support and I my game is a bugger version or something like in this style. From that time I am trying to reinstall my game but vainly, after I am trying to start it only black screen is appearing. I installed the game many times previously and never had any problem with it so far. I have normal legal English Europear version of the game. I am very disqusted and frustrated. I think something somewhere in my computer stayed which can´t be deleted and this trash prevent now another proper installation now. And I don´t know what is it and where is it. I know that when I would reinstall all my computer anew the game would start to work again, I think. But I won´t do it. But what do you exaticaly mean with bugger version?

It seemes to me as though computer somehow falsely deduced my game is illegal copy when I push by mistake cancel instead of quit in the course of appearing of the registration window of the game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
 
When you start the game you get a black screen...
Try opening engine.ini and set tracefilesoff = 0
Then run again and post the logs.

It may just be there's a script problem, not that the game refuses to run. But if not, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas... :
 
If what Nathan suggests does not work, I do have a suggestion, Rad. Uninstall the game, then get something called "System Mechanic" - here is the URL: <a href="http://www.iolo.com/sm/download.cfm" target="_blank">http://www.iolo.com/sm/download.cfm</a> There is a registry cleaner in this program that will help you detect and delete registry entries that are invalid or no longer useful. Once you have run the registry cleaner, you will hopefully have gotten rid of whatever is making your computer believe this game is a pirated copy (ahh, the irony!), and you should be able to `re-install` - hopefully with no more troubles.

Hi Nathan and Catalina. Thank you for your practical and moral supporting and emphaty. I am really desperate and disgusted to the utmost degree. Yesterday, maybe 7 hours I tried to install and uninstall my PoTC anew so as it would start working again but vainly. Previously I used Win98 SE and I never had any problems with reinstalling this game. But now I have Win XP and can´t do it. And I like this two game so much (Sea Dogs and PoTC)! I played PoTC several times and still I am finding something which is able to draw me back and entertain me. Especially this new version 12.1 with Modpack seems to me quite good adjusted except this highly exaggrated fires on the ships´ decks, connected with bothering necessity of reloading my cannons again anad again while enemy can devastate me quite comfortably concurently. But never mind. It will be corrected in the end. Nathan, I tried to use what you suggested but it doesn´t work. Catalina I know this program I used it several times in the past. If we don´t have such problems with payment of such programs in dollars and abroad I have bought it for a long time already. But I will use this trial version at least. But it is intersting my computer is completely OK, everything work properly, even `Half-Life` 2 and Might & Magic VII works good, only the PoTC doesn´t want now.

And I think by this computer or game somehow deduced and even tell me I refused the game´s support and maybe in this case something is started somewhere in computer which blocks the game against pirate playing. Even Build wasn´t possible to unpack into the game. It is very unhappy solution of protection of the game because anybody can mistake in that situation. So, I decided even to buy further new original game (it is quite cheap now) and install it. Maybe it will be working maybe not. If I would have some contact at Ubisoft or Akella I would ask them for advise. So, my friends, keep you fingers crossed for me for a while, please. Hi, Nathan Catalina and others. Catalina, today I downloaded and used this System mechanic but even after my using it the game didn´t work. But I must say this program is excellent now. I knew some older versions but not this version 5. I think I will be trying to buy it somehow for myself. By my opinion is really great and it doesn´t damage any programs in computer which can´t be said about some other similar programs.
So, I went to the game shop and bought another PoTC game. Only after I used this new game (which is in the first glance completely identical as the old one) for installation the game started to work again. So, I have two the same original PoTC games now with the only difference that one was bought 2 years ago and the second today. But never mind the main thing is that my PoTC with Build 12.1 + Modpack is working again. Thank you both. Sometimes it is a little tax for the great playing. Could you think of some conquering of a fort and town, similarly as it is in Sea Dogs? What about the relation to the publishers concerns. You know Nathan, the worst thing is the original CDs slowly stop working after about 7 years. It happened to me with the original CD Tomb Raider II. I heard about this issue but I thought it is exaggerated.
