Nelson period Naval ships

Agamemnon74

Powder Monkey
It would be great to have a serious Naval sim featuring ships of Nelson's time , circa 1780's to 1800, with authentically modelled ships and rigging , the deck scenes in POTC are extremely basic with almost no rigging . Are there any Nelson period ships available for download ?

There are many many ships under construction at present, Sir. We are also trying to compile them into a mod called Pirates of the Caribbean: Patriots and Emperors. This mod puts the game in the year 1812, at the height of the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.

The HMS surprise is included in the last few version of post-build, i do beleive it would qualify as a Napoleonic ship.

The surprise model is available now. It's on the FTP. I think Pieter has put a link in the modding tools thread is you need a FTP client program.
I think there's also a thread giving the FTP address and password etc.
Also check out the first attempts in skinning thread for more RN skinned ships which should be available fairly soon.

Need any help with the ftp etc give me a shout

Please explain how to use FTP. I'm pretty new to the modding scene <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

There is a thread that explains the program and how to use it. Its quite simple and easy to use. I think you'll find it very helpful.

The easiest way is to download <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/ftp_commander.zip" target="_blank">FTP Commander</a>. In this version of the program, I already defined the FTP, so all you need to do is double-click it and you should be able to get on there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

for those who don't know: The Surprise mentioned here is Inzane's HMS Surprise, not Chocolate Bill.
as for the difference between them: Inzane's was based on the real HMS Surprise; the captured french ship L' Unite [i think?], and Chocolate Bill's was based on the HMS Surprise in the film Master & Commander [The HMS Rose in reality].
