I have a new (hope not to hard to realize) mod idea:
Add a Admiral random mission to the game.

I immage a new location in Rendmon where you can find a Royal Nany Admiral.

You have to ask to the Admiral for start a new military carrer.
The Governator will only give you the letter of Marque, not military and nobiliary rank that are provided by the admiral.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> The admiral can give you four kind of mission (depending of your rank):

1) Attack enemy trade convoy.
2) Attack enemy war convoy.
3) Attack pirate convoy.
4) Attack an enemy fort.

During your voyager you can accomplished the admiral request or not, but points for next military rank can increased just accomplished the admiral request.

I think to add in the diary the admiral mission and a note of the sinked ship, when .

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> Now, I hope that my ideas isn't too confusing for you (I don't speak english and I not able to explain well in this language).

I need a lot of help to try to add this features to the game, first of all I need to know:

1) How to add new permanent location (admiral office).

2) How to add new permanent charater (admiral).

3) How to add new mission in the captain's log.

4) How to change the military rank from the governator to the admiral.

5) How to take the score for the vassel and fort destroy and how to annotated them to the capain's log.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" /> So, if someone think that this could be a good idea, please help.

Thank you guy, bye,

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there matey,

Great idea, you've got my support. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Unfortunately I'm yet to learn the much of the technical aspects of modding, however I'd be happy to help with brainstorming and testing at this stage. In view of all the other great mods introduced to the Build so far, it seems to me that all the elements of your mod shouldn't be too overly difficult to implement.

I love the naval officer feature of the Build, however, I've thought for a while that it's been relatively easy to get promoted, and have found my character rapidly rising through the ranks. So maybe in addition to the point system for ships sunk/captured currently in use, you could add further conditions for promotion such as completing all of the various types of missions for that rank or maybe some other special condition set by the Admiral.

I'm also wondering if it's possible (and not too difficult and complicating) to have promotion linked to certain minimal skill levels for each rank, particularly Leadership and Sailing.

Just a some thoughts.

Cheers, matey <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Very nice idea! I was thinking about the same, but i think the governor can manage these things, we don't need an admiral for this, but hey, the more places to go in a colony the better. And not only english admirals! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Cos i like to plunder redmond. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Anyways, very nice idea, i' looking forward to testing it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm very happy that some else think this is a good idea, but I'm afraid that this will remain just a dream if nobody give his support.

I had the idea but I haven't the skills to realize it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Maybe if someone would drive me to the POTC code I will very gratefull.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, matey.

I've started to study some of the modding techniques employed here and am making some headway (I think), so hopefully if or when I learn some more I may be able to help you with this one. Hope to get back to you soon.

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Mates,

After the start of this topic I'm starting to study and work with C# (that is very close to POTC script language), in the meantime I had a look in the various mod and now I truly want try to realize this mod.

Before to try I need to know what are the tool that you are using to write mod (C++, C or just notepad), I've seen that with existing function if I change something then I can see the change in the game as well, but I don't know if a new function required a recompile of the engine.exe or not.

Does exist a list of function and method used in POTC function (eg. for add a line in the quest book)?

Please let me know <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Bye,bye,
giuliootto

I´m really no coder but have not compiled anything so far. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

To code, all I use is Notepad. There is no need to modify engine.exe for anything. If you add a new functions at the right place in the code, you can use it ingame.
