Hmmm, new ripped or torn sails?

Surely without the animation of loose sail stripes that were flying in the wind because for that the whole sail animation must completly new modeled.

This sails are only a test. They were made in 5 minutes only to see if I can do it with photoshop. They aren't really finished yet but they look not bad at all, I think <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
 
That looks quite good! Would be nice if somebody could make the torn sails from the PotC film with holes all over the place. The current torn sails just miss their lower part, but they don't have holes everywhere.
 
I made a bunch of sails a while back but I never really tried to make the torn sails. Mostly that is becuase I didn't know how to go about adding the transparency of the torn sails. Could you tell me how you did that on photoshop?
 
It's quite easy.
Open your .tga file with photoshop. Than open the "channel" register. There you should see five color paths. (RGB, Red, Green, Blue and alpha 1)
Press strg+4. The alpha channel appear to be in pure white. Now you can start paint on alpha channel in black everything you want that should later be transparent.
It's important to use black as drawing color because everything you painted in black on the alpha channel will later appear transparent when you converted it back to .tga.tx file. That's the whole secret. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
The alpha channel only supports colors from white to black. The darker your drawing color is the more transparent it will later appear.

I have to take the Fleut for the picture cause I'm not qualified for bigger ships right now (just started a new game after install the last update)<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
But I think I have to try it with the new "Black Pearl" to see how it looks with a big ship and big sails.

Well, I'm guessing. Look at the name Hector Barbossa... sounds Spanish. Sides, the <i>Pearl</i> has a Spanish look to it. How the obviously English Jack Sparrow got it is beyond me...
