New gloating system in Pirates!

With the news of having a html output for Pirates! so we can all gloat over how good we are, are we all in favour of having a ladder type system for when they all start coming in?

hmm sampow your doing well tonight <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I imagine that would take some hefty modding to do however unless its manually put in byt a mod or admin that way it could be dont but would get annoying after a while, couldnt really have everyone di it themselves interesting thought though

the more and more I read about this game the more I like it.

The gameplay seems to be even deeper than in the Pirates. Just the thing that you will be able to choose how to behave is something that I have really missed in all games I have played, besides Pirates....

I wonder if there will be any way to authenticate the HTML output. I mean the concept is fun, and I know the majority of people here would play it cool, but it could be ruined if people started posting doctored results (I recall a certain person temporarily providing a falsified account of their penguin batting skills a while back... hehehe). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

ahh yes the penquin scandal, dark days indeed..

authenticating some code in html would be rather hard i would imagine, though im no coder liker yorself samp, but anything that is just a few tags , anyone can make. however it will be interesting maybe there will be some other 3rd party autheticating software that reads a code generated by the game to tell the fansite what the score was legitimatly?

Perhaps something can be put together - a script could do it easily enough, I'd imagine... Some kind of decryption thing, and the code could be generated by an encryption utility with the game...

Yeah true, but there has to be a point that you rely on honesty......i know its doomed to fail.

It is an interesting one though I dont think there is a fool proof way of doing it, have any other games done something similar to this before?
 
A simple validation code derived from the HTML code would do the trick; if the HTML is changed the code won't match. Of course you'd need a validation program and people could always reverse engineer it, but they're better off spending time playing the game than trying to hack the high scores. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
