New islands mod?

bremg

Landlubber
What is the effect of the new islands?? I sailed to one of them but couldn't do anything in one of the city's ??

i think they are under construction
lol i will tell u a little story :p
I went to those iladnds, i could not see the way out, my crew got killed, and my manowar was sink <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
crew starwed!, and a sloop soted me down

By the way, can new cities be added to those islands?, because I would like to create my own new city, it would be great instead of just using the ones the game has.

For some islands, there already are land locations and some characters, such as a trader and a shipwright. However, there is not much to do there yet. No quests, no interesting characters. All those things are supposed to be made later.

I reckon it is possible to make new cities by making a new 3D model. It is also possible to give the current cities a different colour to make it look differently. Maybe we could even try using the Age of Pirates city models?

My experience with those islands included valid treasure locations whenever I had a map.
Then again I usually have a high luck score.

Ok, this is a example of a land scenario, as you can see the buildings are far from being finished and the textures are rather plain, but after more work and with street merchants and walking citizens the whole thing would look totally different.

Anyone with the modding skills is free to join me in this project.

Very nice models! Are they completely new ones? If so this could really open up! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

you cant do anything there? thats strange you must say that to pieter or add ad at the technical problems forum

You can do <i>something</i> at the new islands, but they're not finished and there are no real quests there yet.

To Capitan Caceres: I reckon it should be possible to get new locations into the game. Unfortunately, I don't know how to. I reckon the file should be converted to .GM and a walk patch should be added "telling" the characters where they can walk. It can all be done with Inez's tool. Somehow... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about modeling for PotC. I only know modeling for Virtual Sailor (sailing simulator).

Nice locations though. I hope we can figure out how to add them in!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

Well, here is what I have in mind, a real 17th century city, I plan to replace the purple squares with buildings facades, doors, windows and balconys as the ones from my other post, it´s a easy but boring job, then I would create the streets and put some props to make it look like a real city. I say is an easy job, because all the modelling is done, but as Pieter mentioned, we need to figure out how to put them ingame.

A little description on my project.

ORANGE: The port area, where you arrive on your ship
RED: The port offices and shipyard
GREEN: The suburb square, with merchants and stuff
LIGTH BLUE: The land entrance and bridge
YELLOW: The slave market
BLUE: The customs house and main market
WHITE: The governors house, and the cathedral

The good thing about this cities is that the walls spare you the work of making outside landscapes <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If you can guess wich city is that you win a price.

P.S. the southernmost bastion of the ORANGE area is the one in my signature pic.

My guess is Sevilla. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

Keep guessing Jack, you got close in architecture but not geaographically, this one is in the caribbean.

The price you win is the honor of helping me finishing it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> no seriously, the price is that you get me to make a custom ship model just for you so let the guessings come.

P.S. If you come up with a positive ID on the city you got to tell me how you found out.

<!--quoteo(post=139361:date=Feb 11 2006, 01:10 PM:name=bremg)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bremg @ Feb 11 2006, 01:10 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Barbados? Or is that just an island name?
Anyway, that city.. I love it!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Keep guessing lads.

I have realized that I may not be able to deliver the price as I expected because of the big problems I am having with the modding tools and after I finding that the VRML format does not support UVW unwrapping from 3D max.

The city is the superfortress of the spanish main, second to Havana.
