New mods Ideas

I've got some ideas for the new mod:
- more quests; work for tailors/shipyard and loanshark (bring clothes/sailcloth and planks/money to other islands)
- protecting (attack <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />) a spanisch goldfleet with a lot of enemy vessels

quality for food: after a month food (fruit/chocolate) goes from good to average/bad/rotten
maybe if it's so bad you're crew can get `sick-die`?

-a button "take all crew" just like take all goods

- a new weapon; musket, a two handed weapon with a knife on it

- gunpowder just like food and rum you need to buy gunpowder for the cannons

I have an idea to it is a bold one but it is one.

why dont the good programmers here try to make a mod that you can have you r one island from the begining your one nation, fleet (not only 4 ships) bu a whole fleet like the english, spanish, etc.

new sips added, new weapons, and some other stuff.

that's a good idea too. it would limit the amount of time you could stay out at sea, which is realistic i think. what does anyone else think?

Yes, spoilage of food: An entirely realistic and thus needed addition. As of now, it could only be applied to our wheat as rations, since alcohol doesn't spoil, right? That's the entire reason ships stocked so much grog, it kept much better than potable water.
I suppose some code could be applied to make it age over time... Actually, ALL food cargo ought to realistically spoil over time. I know merchants give you a month to deliver their cargo, but they seldom send food and the limit doesn't apply to your stolen goods. Fruit and such should be worth less the longer you have it, and eventually nothing at all, all the more incentive to make a quick delivery.

Gunpowder is included in a large Russian mod currently being translated. It also uses general "rations" instead of wheat and rum, but I don't know if they age.
 
had a bad night so came up with some new ideas

- increase ship/sail/crew damage ability and less change of a critical hit for you're own ship
- a axe slow but lot of damage
- buy different boarding hooks like one with long boardingrange but less chance of succesfull boarding (would make it a lot harder to board)
- A chance of breaking your sword if its in bad shape
- buy hats at tailorshops, and if youre a commodore you'll get a commodore's hat
- I've heard that there will be new islands in the new build (can't wait!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />) will it be possible that you can take the city; fight with the Governor and then be a governor

New islands are also in the A&M `Add-On`, I believe. And axes are included as new weapons, along with a club and a shotgun. (Yeah, a modern shotgun...)

Hats would be fun, but would take an awful lot of model editing...

is this the same as the upper one or is this a dofferent one?
and where can I find IT or THEM?
 
Suggestions thread??

Taking this 'ere as a suggestions thread...

1. Make the 'Pirate hunting' quests you get a little more realistic; the pirates always seem to just happen to be off the coast of the island...not much challenge finding them; have it a requirement to bring the pirate captain and maybe the crew back to the governor (though not necessarily literally) to be 'hung'...I mean, the governor would want proof the pirate was dead or captured, not just his ship gone.

2. A la the 'Total War' games, have a display when fighting a ship battle and boarding which shoes the relative number of crew on both sides and their morale.

3. I know Kieron states it isn't possible to have rifles in game, but even as `non-functional` items? Be nice to at least see the soldiers with a rifle over their shoulder etc.

4. Tone down the number of ships encountered in groups; surely not all pirates had big `3-4` ship fleets, or ganged up?

5. Any chance that there could be a more military style quest? I know you can get a rank increase via doing jobs for the governor under the letter of marque, but looking at the reconquest of Oxbay, it'd be fun to actually be part of that assault, leading some ships and storming the town with the soldiers.

good idea... though really the pirates have to be around the island. i think they should be random though - instead of generating the quest every time you talk to the governor, the pirate should randomly appear and only then should you be able to take up the quest. (i think the coast pirates added in build 11 are waaaaay to frequent).

you can see the crew number and their morale by using the masterwork spyglass <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> that info isn't shown on any `heads-up` display, in the interests of realism.

that is now possible, since inez dias has made importing new/altered 3d models possible!

this depends on your level - i think in the lower levels of the game you don't encounter so many big fleets. the game has to continue getting harder, or the player would stop playing <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> i agree that there are too many pirates around coasts now, and not enough navy patrol ships (unless you change buildsettings.h).

writing a quest is a biiig undertaking, as catalina and anyone else who's done it can definitely tell you <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> so if you've got a quest idea, the best thing to do is have a go at doing it yourself! have a look at some existing quests and see if you can copy and edit some of their elements to make your own quest. really, the best way to learn is to just get stuck in...
