**NEW SKIN*** Captain Redsand

Heretik

Privateer
Storm Modder
Hey guys!

It is now officially done! Unless anyone proposes any changes. I think I spent almost as long on the text file as the painting. Holy Cow that took a long time to write.

Enjoy

And thankyou Cyberops, Thomas the Terror, Windwolf7, and Pieter - I never would have been able to finish this if you guys hadn't continued to answer my stupid questions. Thanks!

(by the way - I really should not have labelled this as NEW SKIN... 'cause it's not new anymore, and I can't change the title.... sorry folks!)

And this is the Portrait

Excellent job, Heretik. Looking forward to getting it. **smiles** Check with some of the guys, maybe even Cyberops would be willing to host it for you. Or just add it to the Supermod. **grins**

***note*** ummm... I attached a winrar file... but I don't think it worked, if anybody can come up with a way for me to make this download available, that would be awesome... I'm a little embarassed about now....
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Pack it as a ZIP file instead of RAR and it'll work fine, the forum only allows certain filetypes.

First off - Cyberops, I will email it to you right now - thank you very, very much! It would be awesome if you could put it in the supermod - but I'll leave it at your discretion.

Next, I tried putting it in as a .zip... maybe I just don't understand the forum's upload thing at the bottom there... I will keep trying....

For an ingame screenshot, I pushed printscreen on my keyboard. This will take a picture of whatever is on your screen at any time once windows is loaded up. Go into Photoshop or whatever afterwards, open a new file, and then click paste. Voila - you will have a screenshot. Only problem with in game is that you will have to exit, and re-open each different screenshot.

Cheers

im a pain but i used the printscreen in game to take pictures but i have no clue where to go an get them from heh where does it send the screenshots to?

it'll copy it into clipboard (virtual memory). all ya have to do is to open (for example) Paintbrush, new file, paste <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

ah ha got it <img src="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m121/talore007/pirate1.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

errr... hahaha

I'm a little embarassed to say that I'm not sure where it is posted... Cyberops was really nice and said that he would host if for me... but I'm not sure where to find it... I think that people must be finding it though, because I've gotten comments from this post, where I haven't actually posted any pictures. If it isn't posted, or you can't find it or anything (and this goes for anybody), just PM me your email, and I'll email it to you.

it might be on the ftp but i dont know how to access the ftp, so i'll pm you my email instead :p

The skin looks really nice in the game heretic, although i think the jacket isnt the right color and not detailed enough (for instance a jacket like the third skin from talore something like that)

I'll try fiddling around with it to make it suit my needs with your permission <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

On a sidenote, its kind of odd that the player icon while playing isnt correct if i start a new game, but if i use an old savegame it shows up, even though i followed all your instructions thats still not working fine for some reason.
It will simply show a random npc head in the top left corner instead of the one you made

It's a real pain to setup - use the TX converter in the 256 menu in textures to open up all of the files. Find the picture that represents the one that you have - then go back to the 256,128, and 64 folders that I supplied - rename the file to whatever the file you just found was AND THEN YOU NEED TO CONVERT IT TO .TGA.TX.

My guess is you may have missed out on that last step there. Thank you very much for the feedback, and good luck.

Oh- and once you make the corrections that have it suit your tastes, can you email me a picture of it or something so I can better understand what you are looking for - in the meantime I will check out Talore's stuff. Thanks

thats just the odd thing heretic

i did all that, i've been working with textures from aop for quite a while now skinning ships and flags in the game, and still not fully done yet seeing i'm working on modeling the batavia currently

so i allready knew where to put most files and followed the readme for the rest.

like i sayd, when i start a new game i get the wrong player icon both in top and on the other screens, but when i load a game with the old blaze character they get changed.

anyways, i'll take another look <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Oh - sorry man - maybe I missed a step or something in my explanations.... I'll go back and do it again, paying closer attention to what I'm doing. I must have explained it wrong, because I was able to get it with mine.

****actually, I just picked a shareware program that self installs things.... maybe I can work that up a bit... that would (ideally) make it a lot easier - or maybe I'll just rename my files to devlin, and then choose his portrait thing to replace, and then it might be a LOT easier for everyone. Plus I just opened a filefront thing - That seems to be what cyberops uses to upload files - so I began to check it out - I had some trouble uploading the file last night -but I'll reboot and try again or maybe with a different web browser

Now this next bit is not to be misinterpreted as an attack in any way towards Talor - but I am a bit confused with the character skins he released... Perhaps there was a change in hue/saturation, but those skins look (and once again, this is from a quick glance, I could be totally wrong, and I mean no offense whatsoever) the same as skins that are already in the game:

head_pir.tga.tx (the pirate king)

and

off_spa_1.tga.tx (errr... a spanish officer)

That said, I need to add more details - that changes nothing - but it was just something that I noted while looking them over.

Wow man - that's a really cool idea - You went over the skins in teh game, and made them better than they actually are! That's really cool! And thank you for not taking that poorly - I wasn't sure how to word it and not have it be offensive. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
