Right'o lads! Gots me that new sound mod all packed up an ready ta go, alas I ain't got enough storage at me regular site, so I gots ta impose on the good folks here at www.piratesahoy.com to oblige yers truly. Soon as I gets her up an ready I'll let ye know wheres ta gets it!

W00T!! Looking forward to this, RJ. So what exactly did you modify with this pack? I seem to remember you saying something about the sounds of sailing, but I'm not exactly sure.

Right on RJ, glad to see someone taking on the sound issues of AoP! Looking forward to see what you tweaked or added.

By the way, how is your sound stability? I have found that tweaking the sound_alias causes missing sounds to play but after awhile eventually cut out again, sometimes leading to a Ctd.

What I gots fer ye be a reworkin of the ini files pointin ta better sounds that were included in the game but not used. Also I included a number o' categories what point ta things what were missin an all, such as the sounds of a ship at sea when yer in the captains cabin an such. I also touched up a number o' sounds ta be more to me own likin from other piratey games we all know an tolerate, I hopes ye agres with me selection. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

The biggest change, an what started meself on this here path be the sounds o' sailin! I added a number o' new sound profiles in sound_alieses.ini an made reference in sound_scheme.ini so they be heard when the crosshair blinks out, I still be lookin fer the source o' that wee problem so's I made do fer now. What ye gots is the sound of ol briney an a few other details what be heard aboard ship. Now there still be some problems what lies with program files an how sounds be called when a'playin, an that be beyond meself at the moment. Most times when ye first launch from harbour, ye kin only hear sounds listed in sound_scheme.ini, an sometimes the sounds of wind and sea be silent when too many things be happenin like Cap'n Bligh pointed out. I still be lookin fer the source o' that as well. I be thinkin it be a limitin on the number o' sounds what can be heard from scheme mayhap, listed in some file I ain't yet been privy to. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Yes I got the same problem

I like the extra sound effects that were added to the guns, port cannons loaded, the new boarding sounds <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />
and the officer salary sounds are quite funny. I know they were orginally for merchants but it sounds so good comming from the officers, "captain...so good to see you, and your money" lol
 
WoW RJ after only a few mins it was almost like playing a new game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Well done mate, /salute!

Love the sailing ambient, really sounds like being at sea now with the sluice of the waves against the bow.
One thing I would like to see added would be perhaps different or alternate gunfire sounds corresponding of course to shot weight. Not really needed, but if you have access to any other files of this type I'd love to try em out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
Hmm, not sure what be the problem with the crc error, I repacked the officer file and reloaded the rar. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

There is actually a realistic cannon and pistols sound mod for PotC, done by Jack Rackham. He's already given us permission to use his mods in AOP. So iffi'n ye wants to check it out, its in the +Added to Build 13 directory on the PotC FTP.

I had me a listen ta them cannon sounds from POTC. Can't says I likes em better'n the stock sounds, but I have em packed up if ye wants em. Also I fixed up some fightin sounds while I were at it, pistols in particular sound much better.

Can anyone tell me how I can get a Red jack's main sound pack?

I have no idea about pa ftp.
