Newbie questions - need some help :)

one more thing, if you want to have the surprise from the beginning you can open internalsettings.h and just type surprise in the place of one of the starting ships

Hi Morgan!

Hmm interesting. The ransom option isn't really that necessary for me, but the Officer option is. Will this be removed as well?

And all the books about defending, repairing etc., and all the artifacts, are they good for anything? It's not like I can read the books or use the artifacts, so I'm guessing they're just there for show?

the only difference that it will make is that you can no longer talk to prisoners in your hold. all the options you get when an enemy captain surrenders and starts dialogue are still available.

the books enhance your skills. reading the info discription helps with determining what they do. all books are based on actual forum members, one way or the other.

Aha... But the artifacts does nothing?

Some of them give boni or mali ( rubin +2 weapon damage, bronze amulette +1 luck etc. ,most of the aztec stuff has negative effects, IIRC)

Which artifacts? Some offer a skill bonus, but some decrease your skills.

Hmm okay. Because for example on the ruby as you mentioned, it says that it can be inserted in to my weapon. Obviously this is a positive "statement", so all "artifacts" with a positive statement/description, gives me something good. Nice one!!

some give a positive AND a negative effect though. and stay away from albatrosses! there's a few ways to get rid of them, but you've got to be resourceful. or lucky.

I'm thinking about building something. Is it possible to like build your own city?
Do you earn good money if you build many houses, farms etc.?

I was going for a treasure at Sandy Point, Turks. I got pass the brigde and cave as I was supposed to, and found the treasure location as it said "Secret Hidden" or something like that. When I opened it up, the treasure was gone?! I just payed 90000 gold coins for that treasure, but nothing was there. Any idea how this can be?

i have an albatross <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> what do i do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

there's never a gaurantee that the treasure is actually there.

go to greenford and up the steps that lead to the upper floor of a house. there are more options, but that's what you're supposed to do.

Depending on your luck skill, there is a higher chance of the treasure being there, but there's always the chance the map is a dud. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
