I noticed Jerremy's salary is something like 18,000.00 a month! Is there anyway of renogotiating his salary? Fortuntely before running out of money I attacked two enemy ships, kept one, sold contents of other, then sold extra and have about 280,000.00 now!

You've kept the Cinco Llagas as your own ship, haven't you. It's too big for you, giving you stat penalties, which in turn affect your skills, which in turn determine how much you pay for stuff, including crew salaries. The class of ship you can sail is determined by your (or your navigator's) navigation skill. Right-click it to see the required levels for each ship class. The recommended procedure is to buy a small ship and relegate the frigate (along with the stat penalties) to an officer. Or you can just sell it, but it is unique in appearance and has a chance of having better stats than regular frigates, so think twice before you get rid of it.
