I worked out how to hire them, but what having two ships
wanting to sell one. How do I get the officer of the ship
so I can sell. selling the ship I got a Tartane instead

Seems like a bug to me actually,
i just tried the exact same to test it and the officer ended up as a passenger on my own ship.

Its interesting to read these kind of comments actually, people will always blaim it on the company making the game, yet dont seem to realize that its the publishers who are to blaim for it for pushing the game producers into having it finished before a certain date

If game producers wouldnt be limited to publishers that much things like this wouldnt happen as much

change! You should read more about Microsoft for
instants and its latest creation VISTA. It's full of bugs
and I bet lots of bugs will still be there when they release
it, because they're under a lot of pressure to make money.
Same goes for the game industry, if you can call it that.
...and on top of that they put so called protection software
into their products to anoy the hell out of customers!!!!

Valve already publish their own games through steam, and it's working out alright.
It would be hard for anyone else to follow, though. Valve had a good grip on the Counter-Strike community, which really was what made people stick out for steam (it was so slow and buggy in the beginning, some people quit playing).

It's to annoy pirates, the problem is that paying customers often have to suffer along with them. The copy protection software gets more complex all the time, but there hasn't been an unpirated game to date, which tells me something else must be done.
 
GREED...Make money fast...who cares about the game, or the gamers, it's a hot market, people will buy it, lots of sales will be made before the problems become apparent. By then, who cares, move on to the next one. Thats's why every time there is a hit movie it is immediatly followed by a BS "game" to go along with it. It won't be a hit, but it will sell for a while... nice pictures on the box, pretty presentation...
In the old days of computer games, you very rarely saw a buggy game. Patches? Patches? We don't need no stinkin patches!
It's all about the money folks... too bad they don't realize how much they could REALLY make off a really spectacular product!
