And no I won't walk the plank you swabs, here we go:-

Is there a trainer for Pirates (ducking for cover)? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

I ask this as I am running out of money and my War Galleon seems to sink more ships than capture them <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Train'n wheels on a war galleon <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> unheard O' mate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Need a ship with less firepower

Need more money, takes ages to get anything decent and then it costs heaps for special items, surely a money trainer might be nice (chuckle)

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Ahh get out of the war galleon matey, goto a sloop everything is much easier ( that includes getting money via ship captures )

Okay Keith

Will do thanks, oh and thanks for your previous help <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Ah ha, Keith

I just released by moving to a smaller ship don't I run the risk of getting taken out from a first volley? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

I can't see a sloop taking on a Frigate or SOTL and winning (mind you I could be wrong) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Why use a War galleon? they are fat cows in the water, man. A brig of war carries 12 more cannons and turns on a relative dime in comparison, not to mention it can carry the same number of crew and cargo. If your starved for cash go and recruit a few natives or pirates to raid a local enemy city of your choice, then, once theyve softened it up for you, go in for the easy pickings. Instant cash.

You should not use the regular cannon balls if you don't want to sink your enemy. Just shred their sails until they strike their colours and then sail in to take the ship over.

Good Advice

Thanks guys <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I regularly take on War Galleons and frigates with my royal sloop. In fact the only thing I have not taken down with it is a ship of the line... and only becuase I have yet to find one. I play on adventurer level if it matters.

Well, the war galleons are fat cows in water for sure lad <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> but I always use the sailing damaging ammo. So that's why I never sink the enemy ships hehe. With a canon skill you should be able to make them surrender after 2 or 3 hits. Right? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

Aye,use'n a royal sloop wid all de upgrades an specialty crew members,ye can sail circles aroun' yer enemy, use de wind te yer advantage 'afore ye switch te battle mode, paste der sails wid chainshot, easy pick'ns no matter what kind O' ship yer fight'n <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

SOTL are English ships. I have noticed a definite trend among enthusiasts of Pirates! and similar games of people identifying much more with the Limeys.

Because when it came to naval power in one long forgotten past, there was a small little island off the coast of France with some pretty powerful ships. If you can't beat them... either join them, steal their ships, or use them for every thing their worth <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

The Truth, you can't handle the truth!

<!--`QuoteBegin-Ironlion45`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ironlion45)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->SOTL are English ships.[/quote]No, not all. The one I caught was French! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I used Flag and War galleon on my last two games, they arent so bad. Yeah they turn slowly, but I think if you know how to manuver a ship quite well and have the sufficient amount of crew, you could do damage to most anything. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />
