Hi,

I had some pics of some DK ships on my HD from the old navalbase.dk (now closed)

The 1696 32-oar galley "Elephanten"
[attachment=1690:1696galley_32_oars.jpg]

The front of the "Sophia Hedvig" from 1698
[attachment=1691:1698Sophia_Hedvig.jpg]

The 1717 "Pommern" (rigging only)
[attachment=1692:1717Pomm..._rigging.jpg]

The 1707 spant-and-deck drawings of "Aphrodite"
[attachment=1693:aphrodit...deck1707.jpg]

The back ornaments of "Frederik VII" (signed by the king himself!)
[attachment=1696:eek:rnaments.jpg]

Download these first, there are a few more, amongst a side drawing of the merchant "Christiansund" from 1706 if you´re interested <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ea/Carta_Marina.jpeg" target="_blank">Here</a> is a link to the famous "Carta Marina" created in 1539 by Olaus Magnus (swede) in Rome (there are tons of old maps out there - try google for more!)

funny.... looks like the pommern has a studding sail on it's lateen. i know it's got a special name.

No, although <i>HMS Dauntless</i> (and <i>HMS Endeavour</i> as well) are clearly based on <i>HMS Victory</i>, no PotC filmmaker set his foot anywhere near her. They made their own sets on floating barges instead <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Nice pictures! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

i have a big book full of old pictures and things if someone is still interested i can scann them. it is a great book with also some things from admiral nelson.
there is a very funny part from a dutch explorer Willem Barentz, he got stuck in the ice with his ship at Nova Zembla(somewhere above russia), but the text is still in old dutch, and that is very hard to read! a bit like german and English but different. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

no, almost. its from 1596 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
