Funny that this should happen on this day, I was just looking at a forum post (http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=12950) about not being able to play as a pirate specifically in EIC but thinking it was possible to play like a pirate.  The only problem is if you go around plundering ships and such, where do you sell your loot?  On the Spanish Main we had a good idea but with the scope of EIC I'm not up to date with all the pirate havens around the globe...On this day in 1755 the Indian pirate fortress of Suvarnadurg was captured by Commodore William James. Suvarnadurg (also spelt in England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) as Severndroog) is an island fortress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort) near Harnai in Konkan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konkan), along the western coast of India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India), between Mumbai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai) and Goa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goa). Located at 17 km from Dapoli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dapoli) at Harne, the Suvarnadurg fort consists of two forts, Kanakdurg the land fort and Suvarnadurg the sea fort. It was built by Adilshah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adilshah), Sultan of Bijapur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijapur) and was later captured by Shivaji (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shivaji) in 1660. It was used initially to counter the Siddis, but was also used as a defence against European interests and was a base for the Maratha navy's shipbuilding facility. In the mid-18th century, the fortress became the base of Maratha Admiral Tulaji Angre (also spelt Tollagee Angria; son of Admiral Kanhoji Angre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanhoji_Angre)), but was attacked and destroyed by a force led by William James (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_James_%28naval_commander%29) on 2 April (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_2) 1755 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1755).  So there you go, our first pirate base in EIC
