On this day back in 1792 English Admiral George Pocock died. While being in the Caribbean during the Pirates sunset he saw most of his action against the French & Spanish. In 1762 he was appointed to the command of the naval forces in the combined expedition which took Havana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_expedition_against_Cuba). The siege (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege), which began on June 7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_7) and lasted till August 13 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_13), was rendered deadly by the climate. The final victory was largely attributable to the vigorous and intelligent aid which Pocock gave to the troops. His share in the prize money was no less than £122,697.Read about him HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Pocock)
