Passengers, prisoners...

Ad Seal

Landlubber
Hello Everyone!

I have a little question, maybe someone could explain me this...
I have POTC with last Pre-build 13. It's completly new for me. But it ROCKS! (every modder involved in this project should be proud).
In cargo bay on my ship (inside intreface F2-key), where I keep prisoners (for ransom etc.) there is description that I can speak to them and even convince them to be my officers. But... I do not know how to do that. In original version there was an icon called "release" and I could release prisoners for ransom. Now I do not have any icons, buttons etc. So, can enyone explain me what I can do? I have two "poor souls" in my prison and I can not even release them... Poor pirates! ;] (please help them!)

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, in my game, when I go to the lower deck to talk to prisoners, there is a whole complicated dialogue popping up, allowing me to either ask for ransom or let them go or whatnot...

When you go to that deck and stand over them push the space bar and the dialogue will come up.

Oh Man!!!
It's so simple!
But I never go to the deck. I thought they are in better guarded place <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Thanks Guys! It was very very helpful!!!

Damn Skippy!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

What never ceases to amaze me is how much you all have poured into this game to make it a completely different experience. It truthfully would not be worth the box it came in, if it weren't for all the hard work put into making the mods a memorable experience.

Cheers mates!

(personally I liked the interface to ransom/release/kill over the dialog... no idea why someone didn't make that a toggle <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )

I reinstalled the original game a few days ago. I couldn't believe how much the modders have put into it. I wouldn't have played the stock game nearly as long as I have the modded one.

I've had an Idea for improving the prisoner ransom mod, although I have no idea how to do it. I'm thinking of when a prisoner tells you he only has a certain amount of money adding an option like "I can see you haven't got any money on you, but maybe your governor will pay more"

you can then sneak into the port and ransom him off to his governor.

the higher the ransom = more important person so more likely to pay up if you threaten to kill him
A LOWER reputation should also improve the chances of paying up as the governor knows you will follow through with your threats

I have no idea how to mod that in though (I do know a bug would need fixing for this to work, when a ship strikes its colors the officer on board counts as pirate even if he was french.

Welcome to the forum, Ad Seal! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Sounds like a good idea, fudge dragon.

To IncredibleHat: A toggle would've been nice, yes. If anybody figures out how to add a toggle, feel free to do so. Next time I catch Maximus online, I'll suggest it to him. I do like ransoming through the dialog too, though, but I'm not sure if it works properly yet. Last time I tried it, it didn't work properly, but it should've been fixed since then.
