Pirate Faction - How to..?

Rawlph

Landlubber
I decided to start a new game as pirate, and now I have some questions:

1.) Why can't my "reputation" with the pirate-faction not get higher than 0?
- Why does it even go negative from time to time?
2.) Is there any chance to do the mainquest without having to change your flag?
E.G. you need to change your flag to "French" in order to leave the port of that French Island called something with "F" :p
- Because if I change my flag from jolly roger to any other nation, i instantly get -60 pirate-reputation.
3.) When does Isenbrandt Something, the Pirateleader on Quebradas speak with you?
4.) Got any other tips for me how to play more piratey? =)

btw im playing build 13 with update 3

1) The pirate "faction" has still never been made into a real nation where you can gain reputation with them by working for them. Of course having a pirate LoM would be a bit silly. Still it'd be nice to actually join the pirates. But then: Didn't pirates use to have a sense of competition between themselves as well? So that pirates are the enemies of other pirates as well? Except when they're in port, of course.

2) You can play the main quest without changing your flag if you turn the flag mod off. Why would you get a -60 pirate reputation when raising a different flag? As far as I know, that is not intentional and should not happen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

3) You need to have a high enough fame level for Isenbrandt Jurcksen to talk to you. If you started the game by selecting the PIRATE nation in the Choose Character interface, there is nothing Isenbrandt can do for you anyway.

4) Here's a good tip: "Sign articles" with your crew. Rather than paying your crew a regular salary, now you will have to devide the loot after a raiding campaign. You can sign articles by talking to one of your officers or by opening te F2>Ship>Crew>Crew Pay interface screen. You can devide the loot at a loan shark in one of the towns. The morale of your crew will now be very much dependent on the amount of loot and the length of the expedition. Loot a lot of ships in a short amount of time, then devide the plunder, your crew will be VERY happy. Go very long without gaining any money and your crew will become grumpy and might even mutiny on you.

ty for the reply, ill just disable the flag mod then i guess =)
and yep - if i change colors, it gives me -60 reputation with pirates.
same thing happened to me once when i sailed under british colors - i switched to the jolly roger, and got -60 with the british.

I do understand that raising the Jolly Roger could cause a reputation hit, but not raising for example a Portuguese flag when playing as a pirate. Of course if you do raise a Portuguese flag, the pirates will be enemy to you until you raise a pirate flag again.

Does anyone know exactly what fame level you need to be to get to talk with Isebrand?
Im at "Famous Pirate" now, and still nothing...

You need to have at least 50 fame "points". I can't seem to figure out how the amount of points is calculated from your fame level though. Waaay to complicated for a simple mind like mine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
Did you start the game as a pirate? If you did, Isenbrandt won't talk to you regardless of your rank because you already <i>are</i> a pirate and there's nothing he can do for you anymore.

Nope, I started as French.
Well, back to looting and pillaging, I guess...
