Same here, Rico. We all know that atleast 90% of all sequals are bad!
so your right on that one, im afraid that theres gona be problems creating a new storyline thats as good or better then the first one was,

The pearl geting into skelly hands again? Well how many would like a movie thats a copy too its prequel. sure jack and hescrew could go irretating english men again but just remember taht will is married now! whit a lady well conected to the governer!! So he might be a pirate but we is no backstaber.

I think that a Prequal would work better to explain Bootstrap Bill. One good way to include something of Bootstrap Bill would to have a flashback. Also, the monkey, don't forget the girl did what ever to that monkey, fell on the cannon barrel, and fell in the ocean. I think ever since that night all the pirates turned to human again, and any live skeletons stuck on the bottom of the sea become dead due to suffication (Including Boot Strap, and the monkey, if he didn't swim back to the island, but I am pretty sure he got knocked out).

Also, it is still possible to include Will. Ever since his wife is the governor, he might be able to get away with some stuff <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> . Or maybe Will will be hired to hunt down Jack?

Also, a earlier post says that filming is going to be during the Fall, that most likely means that the next sequal should be in July, August of September of 2005, due to that it takes a while properly edit, add music, and effects, and so on for a movie today. A good example of this is Master and Commander. If you take a look at the Special Features on the Collector's Edition, you will see that a TON of work is needed. But of course, M & C worked on Historical Accuracy.

I think PotC was a very good movie & all but if they make a sequel, it will likely posess a crap storyline and it will only be 1/1000 as good as it's prequel, don't you think?[/quote]

the thing is, they <i>can</i> be done well. you <i>can</i> have good sequels. it's just that the big suits who are in charge of the entertainment industries don't know anything about their own industries. they haven't a clue what makes a good film and what makes a terrible one. so they take everything they thought was popular from the first film and force it into the sequels, throwing the storyline out of the window. shrek 2 is a prime example...

for example, personally i love geoffrey rush (you should see him in <i>elizabeth</i>, he's amazing!), but i don't think they should try and squeeze him into the sequel just because he was good in the first one. to do a good sequel they would have to do a completely new storyline, with jack and will and elizabeth obviously but not related to the previous storyline. like the james bond series.

I don't think you are ranting at all, and I agree with your comment about Rush in Elizabeth, his protrayal showed just what a scary guy Walsingham actually was. My favorite part of POTC is still Geoffrey Rush saying, in all seriousness, "...The code is more like guidelines really..." or words to that effect.

I thoroughly enjoy POTC every time I watch it, but I have always found the storyline of the movie to be a bit disjointed and not well thought out. I am usually pretty anal about the storyline, but Pirates was so much fun my suspension of disbelief was never broken. With luck the people who make the sequels will heed your advice regarding, "take everything they thought was popular from the first film and force it into the sequels, throwing the storyline out of the window" and lay the film onto the foundation of a good storyline.

Hmmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I heard some rumours that maybe Keira Knightley isn't going to be on PotC2 and that PotC3 will be a prequel.
 
well i see it as this itll be no profit to the "big suits" if they mess up the sequels. but yeah i guess well just wait and see. and i wonder what a prequel would be about.
 
Maybe about Jack and Bootstrap's relationship, a few things they did with the Pearl before Barbossa led the mutiny and the mutiny itself, ending with Jack being marooned on Rum Island and Bootstrap sleeping with the fishes.

hi there, im new to this forum but this post caught my eye.

Does anyoen know if the origional actors for characters like Commodore Norrington, Governor Swann etc have signed up for the sequels?
 
Wasn´t the second part supposed to be out soon, somewhere around, november or december? I wonder why there aren´t much public infos in that case like previews or trailers or the like.
