OOOOOOOH! proper walk file as in no more walking thorugh the deck with your chamera-ness? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

NICE! How are you doing on replacing the captain's cabin for the Black Pearl?

Lemme see...

Hm.

Well, the good news is, our Russian friends apparently have the ability to properly export models into the game. Which means, yes, <i>Black Pearl</i> has working path - you can walk around her, just like I hoped and intended. It also means, no "mirror moonlight" bug - Moon lights the correct side of the hull now. And, as far as I can tell, she finally has some proper collision data. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

The bad news is... oh my God! Why did they had to put that cabin there?! The cabin of the real <i>Black Pearl</i> doesn't look like that! (Not to mention that you wouldn't be able to see actual cabin through the windows - there are two anterooms between cabin proper and those windows). Ugh... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

But that's the least of cabin's problems. The real problem I have with it... it's substandard modelling. The textures are all stretched and it's not properly textured anyway (I can see some barrel textures on the roof <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />), it doesn't quite fit the rest of the ship, and thus part of it stick outside (and parts of the ship stick inside).

The short story is: I don't recommend using this model of the <i>Black Pearl</i>. Path we can use, sure, it's invisible anyway (unless one happens to look under the stairs), but this added cabin looks bad.

To the author, if he's reading this: I'm really sorry for such harsh words, but those are the facts.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> not my model, I just thought, maybe someone likes it?!

Pieter, I couldn`t get that mod of my working, YET.
But what do you guys think of the characters?

i think they all look nice, except the second from the top left. but maybe that's just the angle, i don't know.

Yeah, I know it's your not model and I'm certainly not blaming you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Your skins look rather nice, although skeleton Jack could use some more work (tattered clothes, etc)

Would it be possible to use the Russians' work on the collision, lighting and walk patch for the version without the cabin? If so, that'd be great. Would it also be possible for the Russians to fix the lighting on the HMS Surprise?

In my version of the game, I added the Russian's new Black Pearl, but also added the stuff on deck that Kazeite added. That is not part of the Russian version, but it is now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Also: I added thre seperate versions of the Black Pearl to the game: Cursed (CotBP: Black sails and high HP), normal (DMC: Patched sails) and Wicked Wench, all as seperate ships. They seem to work just fine and I found out how to swap the player's ship, so I now set the cursed Black Pearl as Barbossa's ship at the end of the game and (hopefully) I managed to swap the cursed version with the DMC version if the player has captured the Black Pearl at the end of the game. In theory the code I wrote for that should work, but I haven't tested it, of course, because that requires me to play the entire main quest first. In any case: With all this done, we now have the REAL Black Pearl completely and properly replacing the fake one from the original game!*

BTW: I now have Merciless Mark's improved Surprise, which has less polygons, but does have guns and gun ports added and looks nicer than the original version. The only problem is that the lighting is reversed.

* Not counting the cabin that should be removed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

It is possible to switch walk path, yes, but collision data and lighting are another problem. The only way for me to use russian collision data is to use TOOL, which is how lightning bug is generated - for some reason TOOL mirrors all models which it exports into gm format, which presumably is the source of the bug. Whatever method they use, it doesn't mirror the ship - note how Nike figurehead holds the bird in the left hand on my <i>Pearl</i>, as she should, and in right hand in russian <i>Pearl</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

So, yeah, I suppose they also can fix lighting bug on <i>Surprise</i>, although as of right now I'm not sure it's worth it, with all her doubled polycount and innacurate aft. If only we had better contact with them... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

We really should have better contact with the Russians, yes. We're not cooperating very well, are we?

I do think the new version of the Surprise is better than the old version: It looks better and has less polygons, even though the polygons are still quadrupled. The only real thing that is worse with it is the lighting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Few updates:

New character: Jack with his coat! Basemodel is the bugmanpirate14 from Sir Christopher Mings. I remembered that he was working on a Jack with coat, but hasen`t finished it, so now I have done it for him:
<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/JackSparrowcoat.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

And maybe we can use this flag for the french?
<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/frenchflag.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

well, he looks like him quite a lot actually. but i'd prefer the other jack. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Some new characters from Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End:
<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/EITCLieutenant.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/AdmiralNorrington.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Becket's henchmen <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

And a NOT POTC character:
<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/HoratioHornblowerv2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Horatio Hornblower version 2

I think I'll be getting those ASAP. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hey, if you're not all tied up presently, here are three proposals:

Lord Beckett (Read my suggestion in the Lord Beckett topic.)
EIC Marine (The American soldier already provides a good start, just needs blue breeches, black gaiters, and yellow trim.)
Captain Turner (Haven't sen the entire model but Pritt7 looks like a canidate. You'd just have to slap the will face on it and change some colors.)

All my work that I haven't released is gone due a pc crash. But I have started all over again, and my first work is:
<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/EITC_Soldier4.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

A East India Trading Company soldier!
The only thing we need now, is a location to store these buggers.
