Pirates of the Mediterranean

well I never said this was going to be extremly historically accurate come to think of it POTC original isn't very accurate either

I will be taking a page out B12's book and adding a military component to the mod (with B12's developer's permission of course)

Phalanx Officer
Elite Officer

I have yet to find a nation to replace Holland. An origian feature to my mod's military component will be the ability to command troops the first rank commands no regiments, the second commands two regiments, the third commands four regiments and so on and so on I will also be including unit types i.e Auxilaries, Professional Infantry, Cavalry, Archers etc etc thus bringing a whole new dimension to fort assualts

I can speak for only myself, but you're free to use and modify any code of mine! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Soldier Types

Light Infantry: beats cavalry
Archers: beats light infantry
Cavalry: beats archers
Heavy Infantry: fairly good against all unit but not very good against any one unit type
Artillery: beats buildings

I will be highly interested to see how this all turns out! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

okay update I was thinking about working in the Colisseum in Rome and you could go there and get fights and everythime you win a fight in the arena you get awarded gold(which will be replaced with denarii)

<img src="http://www.eventplan.co.uk/photos/DF%20Romans%201%20HG%20large%20LoRes.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
heres what the roman soldiers should look like <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

Have a look at the music Praetorians uses. It's been while since I played it, but I think it had pretty "romaney" music. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And have you got the main plot done too? Or will it be a totally free-roam total conversion? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> It sounds really good, I'm really looking forward to it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

PS: I had a look at the ranks, and it seems that most of those are land ranks. I'll try and do a google on naval ranks in those nations. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hey, that's not so unusual--Robert Blake, after all, was General-at-Sea.

And certainly for Rome--really, any galley-using nation--sea combat /was/ land combat, except you got rowed to battle instead of walking.

If you want a great opening theme song for your mod heres a perfect one I have.

<div align="right"></div><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->And that's going to be the toughest part, Capitan. We haven't got a lot of modelers here - you might see if you can find some in other parts of the internet - places where they mod for games like Civilization and the like... If you find someone interested in that portion of history, they may already have Roman soldiers for you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
