I got the game on wedensday night so I install it and started playing with StarForce . I checked the game files trying to do some changes here and there but I couldn't , the program folder wasn't readable so I gave up and continued playing .

Today I downloaded the crack file provided by england in this <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8200" target="_blank">link</a> and extracted the files in the game dir . WOW , now the game is totlally tweakable .. for example :

I started with char at rank 15 , 40 mil gold and sailing Frigate . U can also change the time progress while at sea so days don't go fast , the 10 days trip between two points now is only 2 days so that can save u alot and u can do many things within . U can change ships , items , goods data ..etc to your liking .

Many things can changes so u can do it to make the game closer to what u like .

Am having more fun now and thought I would share this info for who wants to do changes to the game so have fun all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I would appreciate you sharing aswell,i'd love to diasable or tweak cannon explosions(from firing,not damage from battle),definatly tweak the speed the ship moves on world map,and maybe raise the min wind level so you dont end up in a battle where even small ships do a knot or less.

Edit:Oh yeah and officer to player exp ratio,some of the goods weight per unit and also the amount of goods already on a smugglers ship as getting contraband isnt hard but it seems most of the time the smugglers ships are already full,yes I know some of these things can and will increase through skills/attributes but none the less i'm still looking.

To slow down the time while in world map go to program/worldmap/worldmap.init c file and search for the line ( worldMap.date.hourPerSec = 2.0 , it is line 16 from top ) now change 2 to lower number , I put 0.5 and it is much slower now .

All I did for cannons is changing the reload time and range , didn't look at explosion thing but it will be somewhere in cannons/cannonsinit c file .. not sure and I didn't check it but it might be the line ( rCannon.hp = 55.0; ) that for a 24 lb culverine so if u change 55 to 100 that might make the gun unexploable ..

Open store/initGoods c file , now look for what good u want to change and change it for example :

Now change Weight from 5 to 1 so each unit of ebony will take only 1 cargo space in yr ship hold , better than that u can change the cargo space in yr ship itself .. am sailing a Frigate with 30000 cargo space so I have no problem with cargo <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I don't know how to do this yet but u can look around in the files u might find how to do it and I will post here if I find how to do it .

1 last thing , just make sure u change the file attribute before changing anything so right click the file / properties and uncheck the read only icon and when u totally done start a new game ..

one suggestion, do not change the cannons reload time there as it will also change the cannons of the other ships so also the enemy unless that is what you want, i like to tweak only my cannons on my ship.

As fot he cannons exploding go to your scripts folder and edit shipupgrades, there you can set the damage, the damage and speed of using your choice of sails etc. etc.
 
Do someone know how to disable the Christmas lights
in the masts,
And only keep the lights in the stern
 
Im looking for 2 options myself, the option to rename your character during the game and the option to set your nation relation while playing. And with that choosing your flag. Another option would be nice which would be the option to release your prisoners anywhere not just on an island of their nation.
 
Actually I found most of the answers to my own post but went and reinstalled back to default to finish my first game.I'll still do my best to help this thread as I accidentally stumbled across options I wasnt looking for,so even though i'm not doing it at the moment i'm fairly sure we can make a nice list of edits if we all pitch in.As for you last post cyber,I'm not sure thats possible just by editing the game files,but I was thinking about seeing if I could make a save game editior if there was going to be enough interest in it,not necesarily to completely cheat but for small things like nation relationship changing aswell as for when people are stuck in a corner,but i'm sure as you've no doubt figured out even if I could accomplish said task it prolly wouldn't be a speedy process given my limited brain power.I'll try and reply or edit this reply with what I had found lastnight if I can remember/find them all again.

luckily if your trying to tweak almost any of the goods aspects the above help you,weight is as he explained,cost is if im not mistaken the above would be a random number between 1 and 25 + 25 so you can tweak the price of any given good,units and afraid water i'm not 100% positive so I don;t want to touch those at the moment,then easily and last but not least is contaband,1 = yes 0 = no,so if you want to beable to sell it at any colony just change 1 to a 0.Theres one or 2 more tweaks for goods but I just woke up and have a few things to do.Sink a few for me.

A save game editor might be fun, a trainer would be even better, change while you go along. But i know changing flags is possible in potc so it must be possible to enable this option in aopct maybe the person who made the mod for potc can also make it for this game.

Actually I have been looking into training AOP as I trained everything in SeaDogs.Problem is not too soon after my personal seadogs trainer devs got creative and started all the trainer protection and DMA so I gave the hobbie up.I've recently started dabbling in it again but am starting from the beginning and even though any 4 yearold with a hex or mem editor can cheat in the game,making a decent dma trainer is a whole different ball game in wich i'll probably get pissed and give up before I reach that point.On the other hand if any other are into the same thing or wanting to help I supose we could make a team and work on it together so as to learn together and make the trainer/editor that much better and faster.As i've said in other threads at the moment i'm just finishing my first go round in the game and giving the AOP community a bit of time as not everyone has the game yet or they may have yet to have it long enough to really start in on modding or playing it.Either way i'm still looking at the possibility of doing the trainer/editor even if it's by myself but don't hold your breath,i'm sure someone else will beat me to it and/or do it much better,but if you are currently working on training it feel free to pm me and we can collaborate on it.

Edit:Oh cybercops I thought thats what afraid of the water was too but if I remember correctly,wich I probably don't,but I though I had seen some with afraid of the water turned on but also having the float time option.I was thinking maybe if the two are combined maybe it could or would subtract a certain amount of goods say per second it was floating before you picked it up,like I said this is all from memory wich is extremely unreliable but even if it doesnt that could be a neat mod too as some goods such as sugar or medicine would no doubt have some portion of the retrieved cargo be ruined or discarded as it wasnt worth messing with in it's current waterlogged state.
 
interesting indeed, i been making trainers to however recently i did not had much time for it, i made a trainer for pirates! but that was like over a year ago by now. I am however very much interested in modding this game as it has a lot of potential and looks very promissing probably even more then POTC did to most modders. I'm sure that when everyone has their copy they will start all the modding work, at least that's what we all hope to see some wonderfull mods coming again.
 
I found many things in the scripts folder , for example u can change amounts of food consumed per crew/day in the food folder , someone asked about smuggling changes and here u can find the smuggling folder to do the changes also exp gained by officer can be checked in a folder here too but I didn't mess with any yet , want to finish with current settings and will check things again before I start my next new game .

Some things can't be tweaked so any who have idea's can save them for when people r starting to make an add-0n , personally I would like to have the option of berthing ships so I can change ships depend on what mission I got , don't want to sail a SOL just to bring back a missioner for the govenor in guadeloupe from san juan and I don't want to sell my ship cuz am sure I will need it later for a mission require's a ship with good fire power and such ..
 
Sam here sam,I found alot of neat options to play with but wanted to go ahead and finish my first play through stock,after that i'll either focus on tweaks or maybe a trainer,it's not finding the adresses and tracing em to their respective pointers thats the problem,it's jumping to a codecave and writing the correct code,then again I was just thinking instead maybe I could try and just jump past said event,but doubt it.Anywho for tonight i'm fed up with that and am off to play AOP.

Piratesam could u tell me what needs changing for the food consumtion ? and where it's exactly located ?

Also you said something about the experiance points for the crew that would be very cool to if you could also point us into that direction.

Go to program/scripts/food , the 2nd line will look like this :

#define I_MIN_MORALE 10

Now change food by crew = 20 to higher number , I put 30 and now my food last longer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" /> ,

I went fastly through the officer folder so I didn't find yet how to change exp gained by crew so sorry about that .

For u guys who went with career life , u can if u want change amount of money u get as salary ..

Go to same folder and open the career file then :

Change money to 1000 or higher but to enjoy the game make it reasonable <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> .

Problem is I don't have time to check files otherwise am sure I will find and test many things and post it here to let everyone play and have fun but hopefully we will keep adding stuff often so keep yr eyes open <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
 
great thanks, i hope you find out for the exp points for the crew, still a rank changer would be great to lol.

Also in the food file if you change define I_MIN_MORALE 10 to
define I_MIN_MORALE -10 then at least you wont get a mutiniy when the food is gone.

@piratesam Lol I wasn't fed up with the game,just trying to learn enough to train it.

@cybercops I found where you can adjust the exp the crew recieves,problem is theres more than one place and indeed you can just adjust the experience ratio for companions,officers,passengers.The biggest problem for me is the whole math thing,I am and always have been and always will be absolutely horrible at math and the fact it's written in a C language which I know next to nothing about makes it worse.One thing you'll notice is luckily or not so luckily some equations in the game have been declared so you can just adjust that one equation in some cases,then again you have to make sure that declared equation is only being used for what you want to tweak and then again you may want to tweak only for example officer exp.If your ready to dig in and deal with all the math i'll see if I can remember/track down the locations again and we'll give it a go together as i'm sure ALOT of people want to adjust this.But/also if i'm not mistaken wasn't it murmerd that the exp ratio was one of the things other than the crashes to be addressed in the upcoming and highly anticipated patch.
