<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Hi, all. I am at thirteen level now and only just now I was able to buy better ship - heavy corvette and I have a big penalties for that too, but never mind.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah, it's nice and a real challenge to get your hands on a larger ship in that game. It's all hard work in the Sea Legends game but it makes you value everything that you gain, particularly the ships, so much more.

I've got an excellent corvette which I managed to capture in a highly entertaining and extraordinary battle. Initially caught and outnumbered as well as outclassed off the coast of Jamaica, I managed to lure a Spanish patrol (4 vessels) under the guns of the Port Royale defence squadron which helped me to engage, sink three of them, and demoralise the corvette. The corvette fled with it's sails in tatters and a significantly reduced crew. I chased (a long chase indeed) in my improved commercial shnyava (upgraded at Fort de France into a superb little fighting vessel, great sailing qualities), stayed on her quarter and swept her with grape shot several times before boarding, easily defeating her depleted crew and capturing her. This captured corvette is a particularly fine ship which I don't wish to sell, however, as my skills are not up to handling her yet (the penalties are just to great), I've berthed her at Port Royale for the future when my skills have improved, and I'm staying with my fine little shnyava for the time being (I've grown quite attached to her). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->But when I am proceeding in the game, my transition from one level to another is all the time more and more prolonged and my game gets stuck for about 15 second and music becomes got stuck for these moments too.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah, I've noticed that happens on occasion. Sometimes it leads to the game crashing and then eventually to being unable to start the game engine at all. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> I've gone for a re-install to get around this, and everything gets back to normal.

It's recomended to backup files (options, engine.ini, memory.mp) before play the game (once at first time after installing th PotC) And when you got troubles, restore its. Some cases this trick helps.

beta-version <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> (work in process)

Hey! Nice! A F.A.Q. I can actually read! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

BTW: I notice you say that some female models have bugs. If you're interested, we have been able to fix the models with missing locators. And we managed to add the sitting animation as well. If Inez Dias and High Sea Lass are OK with it, I suppose you could use the fixed model and animation files (they're in the Post Build 12 mods - link in my signature: Pieter's Pirates Page). The only bugs that are now left are weird animation bugs that always were in there (Example: Lisa's hands look stupid while swordfighting), but there really is nothing that can be done about that.

Oh cool I didn't know about improving ships... I see the FAQ AlexusB posted details it more. I've just had to steer clear of islands whose nations are hostile toward me, since now I have to be in port to get crew or repairs or do basically anything. I would like a ferry-boat sort of option so I could transfer things from port to my ship safe at a nearby beach...

And yeah I value my ships and swords more now, since they were harder won. I get a real rush fighting hand-to-hand with how many enemies there are now... like basically a bazillion skeletons in the dungeons... though it gets to be a bit too much sometimes.

Also horrifically frustrating is being forced to fight some higher-class ships and having all my men killed in battle so I can't capture them. But why can't I even swap ships? Say I have a shniava or whatever it is I'm using now, and I've just captured a corvette, and I have 41 surviving crew members... and the game won't let me just swap to the new ship. Are there unwritten crew minimums? In the Build mod, it's pretty clear when you have enough crew or not.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Alan

I thought I read somewhere that you have to have achieved certain ranks/levels/abilities to be able to command larger ships.
Sort of like what it was supposed to be in the original POTC.

I think Alan that the reason why you can´t swap the ship is that you have to first to add some your crew onto hostile ship and only then you can perform the swapping of the ships. Because when you defeat hostile ships, as you could notice, the hostile crew is zero. And for that reason you can´s swap the ship with zero crew. But if your crew will remain in low number after the fight, so in this case you can´t add your crew onto the hostile ship. It is very difficult anyway. Now I am sailing corvette and I am still fighting about my surviving and with many penalties and abandoning me by my officers and so on. Several times I wanted already to stop my game and removing it from my computer and start to play something different but I still somehow survive and I am curious what will evolve from all of that. And I can´t obtain any letter of mark too so far. But there is still one question in my mind. Is it amuzing or annoying? I think I still don´t know it.

Petros, you can sail what you want if you are able to get some better ship but if your experiences aren´t sufficient yet you will obtain the huge penalties to your experiences ( as I have just now) which is very frustrating. But the offering of better ships in shipyards is very limited and boarding, defeating and capturing or swapping the hostile ship which is better or even of a higher class than your ship is rather theoretical and practically hardly realisable, if ever.

Finally I captured a brig, this is nice. Now I stand a chance against all those headhunters (great AI on those ships by the way, real aggressive the way they let loose a broadside, swing over and open the other set of guns on me).

Some guy in a black robe in Nevis' bar just asked me to find him an ancient book in Venezualia, but I can't find the book or monk there anywhere...?
--
Also: is the main quest in the SLiB at all?

I sailed with brig quite long time but she was weak against galleons and corvettes and frigates. For that reason I have corvette now. I haven´t meet this quest with book yet in Nevis. And when you proceed from one location to another does it take you so long time as me? Sometimes I am mad about it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

2Rad

Thanks for your savegame again - I found problem with long time reload location now but didn't find solution for old savegame yet. This is kernel problem I can't fix it total but can some hide in time.

==========
There are some "main quest line" in SLiB or no one <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
The game is free to choose quests.
See FAQ <a href="http://legend.seaward.ru/eng/faq.htm#chap9" target="_blank">http://legend.seaward.ru/eng/faq.htm#chap9</a> for more info about main quests

Did you happen to see <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=6460&view=findpost&p=135705" target="_blank">my reply</a> above, AlexusB? About the bugs in lady's models being fixed?

Yes I see your post
But to see solution I have to download build 12 (122Mb) it's cost some time to me

If you want, I'll send you the fixed files only. Would be a lot quicker, I think. But I can't send them today yet. With a bit of luck tomorrow. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I download 122mb yet but didn't see what's in it. Send me filenames to this fix, please. It will be more usefull.

I think the fixed locator files are the lady's .GM files (in RESOURCE\MODELS\Characters). Just replace the old ones with the new ones. RESOURCE\animation\woman_sit.ani and RESOURCE\animation\woman_sit.an are the files adding the sitting animation to all but the skirted lady models. If you replace the woman.ani and woman.an with the woman_sit versions, the ladies should be able to sit.

Just now I am trying to build my colony at Cayman island. I am curious if I will manage it. It consumes much time, money and various materials and some other matters. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

But did you build any house or upkeep your flat in real life?
Is it cost (money and time) less then you think?
<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Not that I know of. I'm keeping an eye on the Sea Legend site for any updates, and will let all here know as soon as I do. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
