Playing with the latest version - 24.10.2005 update

hey guys,

Pardon me but where do I get the updates? I try the main site and no clue. Also, how do I install the Storm mode, etc? I like it when there is an installer that puts things in the right spot. Thanks

Ok let me get this straight, with the update, I have to copy each of those to their respective folders? I dont know where most of them go!

Thanks

Sequence of installation.

1. Build 12.1 - installation
2. Modpack - installation
3. Modpack update - placing into corresponding folder
4. New Islands - placing into corresponding folder
5. New Island update - placing into corresponding folder

New Islands are still unfinished and quite buggy. You can installed them or not. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

You should start new thread for your help so as more people could advise you and read the hints on the forum here. You must start completely new game after its modification. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Is that wrong? I did the first update. Havent gotten the Oct 26 update yet.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Nope; that's just fine. Just overwrite the old files and it should work. I would recommend getting all the updates though. They might contain some additional bugfixes. Also: You will need to reset your controls to default before playing (you can change them after that again) and you will need to start a new game.

It has been called "snow".
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Much like the naval, square rigged brigantine, the Naval Snow was distinguished by her for and aft trysail. The crew of up to 80 had at its disposal 8 six pound guns that rested behind the canvas strung amidships over the open bulwarks. This was a common patrol ship when the navy finally set to deter pirates from their self determined duty.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

For those of you who may be interested, Jack Aubrey's first command, the brig sloop-of-war <i>Sophie</i> (Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian) is described by one of her officers.... "Or take this brig, which is no true brig at all, not with her square mainsail, but rather a sorts of snow...."

Hi, all. Despite of the older version of Modpack I can´t almost hire any crew in taverns in this latest version of Modpack. What happened here? Does anybody know anything about it ? I would badly need some more crew. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

As time passes in the game now, the effects of independent island economies kicks in and some islands become poorer and less populated, perhaps making it harder to hire crew there.

I think setting:
#define AUTOHIRECREW_ONCHANGESHIP

...if set to 1 will give you max crew every time you take a ship in for repair.

I have this option set on 1 but my constant fights and boarding caused I am very often in shortage of crew despite of enabling of this function. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

You can always try to go for boarding in a battle, and then transfer the enemy's sailors afterwards. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I know it and I do it regularly. But I would like to hire my crew in taverns as always. I will try switch off this function of this automatic replenishing of the crew after repairing and I will see what will happen. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I have some hint in my quest book there is some treasure at Oxbay´s jungle. I found a cave there and explored catacombs but I find nothing. Do you know anybody where this treasure is? Is there anything important for finding in these catacombs? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Hi, all. I was just now at Turks and I have to say this island is very good, especially the Grand Turk. I like it and I am very glad that even though it is some compilation, it isn´t completely the same and some variations are here, which is fine. I personally think the enlarging of original towns as for example of Greenford and similar isn´t too good because the towns become very similar or almost the same which I think isn´t too good and game is losing something from its originality. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
