You would be surprised... you could walk around NYC and ask people what they think of the political events and Europe and most wouldn't have a clue.
I'm ashamed and apologize - most Americans are concerned about Big Macs and the Jonas Brothers... some don't even have a clue when it comes to North Korea what's been going on over there lately! :p

When it comes to talking politics, I can understand why people are uneasy about it... its one of the two subjects (the other being religion) that can really make people get nasty. I do, however, enjoy having a civil discussion on world events and politics. It opens one's eyes to the world around them... it allows one to learn something about other people and vice verse. Its a good way to exercise the mind and sharpen the ability to have deep, well developed conversations on tough subjects.
When it comes to voicing one's political views, I can see your points. To announce your affiliation can turn a conversation sour, but I believe that its good to let others know. It shows that you have made decisions in life and will stand by them, it develops your character and makes you unique. So what if you have a certain political view? It makes you different. (Though I admit... some who voice their views are overbearing, obnoxious, and some can be simply malicious.)

Speaking of North Korea... what are your opinions on the matter? What do you think will happen? What should be done?

China may be forced soon to try to reign in the "dear leader" since they are themselves keeping a watchful eye on Japan and don't want the Japanese to have an excuse to start rearming themselves with the threat from North Korea growing.

Thank you very much guys, didnt know if it would be too much - that doesnt seem to be the case.

I will make the rest of the world, I still need to sack some australian, eskimo, chinese and turkish self-asteem <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Capt. Maggae: Oh we luuuve Australia. In fact so much, that our new royal crown princess and upcoming queen was not alone an australian citizen, but came from your very Tasmania! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />
<img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3c/Princess_Mary_of_Danmark.jpg/200px-Princess_Mary_of_Danmark.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /><img src="http://i.c.dk/pics/9/5/6/55659/org.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Our not-so-devilish an nice behaving, in fact very sweet and likeable, Tasmanian - Mary Donaldson! And Crownprince Frederik.
They met during the olympics in Sidney. Now is the time, you tell me she is your former girlfriend and come up with a lot of juicy stories + pics, we can sell + move to Bahamas and release our own game. If we´re not killed beforehand, he is an ex-SEAL <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
In return for her, you can keep Utzon's operahouse in Sydney. We have our own now, only twice as ugly, half as good and ten times more expensive. But it is sponsored by Maersk-McKinney Moeller, so we are very proud! (he is not owning half of the country just yet, when it comes to making decisions like this he IS half of the country <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />)
<img src="http://vipevent.dk/cmspics/file_9uyga3rfgyju0b1pz0sj_666996.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Not hard to figure out, we needed new blood here, and had to go to the other half of the world to find her, isnt it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Commodore, I dont think we have an opinion about Korea - they are far away, no refugees ever managed to escape, hence we got no problems rejecting them as refugees <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> For the time being, we have enough problems getting our Iraqi refugees on a plane, so they can have their heads chopped off in Bagdad, preferably before they are able to return and prove their case as genuine refugees here. Exaggerated, and not necessarily the thruth, only my opinion on that matter.

Indeed I don't have much of an opinion on Korea, though their antics do strike me as being worrisome. Same with Iran.

Japan cannot threaten N. Korea
Japan is a violently anti-nuke society (for good reason)
Conventional weapons don't stand a chance against Korea.

Korea is a problem. They can´t be spoken to, they won't listen and they just want to be no 1 bully in their class for WHAT ever reason that I dont understand. What is their goal, what do they want to achieve?
And what about Vietnam, they are not exactly angels either, are they?
