There could possibly be a bug with the ship to ship transfer method when swapping from player ship to another ship.
If I load a game at the dock and go to sea then hit F2 and use ship to ship transfer button and swap ships with another in my fleet, I remain on my original ship and it does not transfer me. If I then go to shore then back to sea again, it will then complete the transfer.
(assuming I start from land from a freshly loaded save)If I get into a battle at sea that involves a boarding with fighting thru decks etc, I can swap ships with the ship I took over with no problem. However, if I then try to use F2 ship transfer button and swap ships that way, the game crashes with error to engine.exe most of the time from blot.dll.
I can also recreate an on shore ship swap crash using F2 ship to ship transfer button. This one involves the pirate hunting quest.
Starting from the dock after sinking the Pirate ship loading right there. I use F2 ship to ship transfer and transfer with light frigate. Then I fast travel to governer collect my reward for the pirate mission, close the dialogue screen, re-open the dialogue screen, get a new pirate mission, fast travel to port, go to F2 ship to ship transfer button and swap ships back to the one I had originally and when I go back to game bam!! The game crashes with error to engine.exe pointing to blot.dll or sometimes unknown.
This is the only time the game crashes for me. After swapping ships using F2 ship to ship transfer. When I go to sea, fight, and swap ships using the old method, it won’t crash. The old method being running along side one of the ships in your fleet and waiting for the ship to ship transfer icon to appear in top left corner of screen then using F3. That way I can run around and swap ships all day without a crash.
