POTC and Sid Meier's Pirates

Hey guys, I was thinking about getting the new Pirates game. But I was wondering how different is from POTC?

Is Pirates just as modable as POTC?
Or the ship to ship fighting and boarding just as fun? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Officepuppy, Pirates! is a LOT different than PotC. It's all 3rd person, naval battles are more simple, economy isn't quite as `in-depth`, the map is bigger in Pirates!, and Pirates! has a greater overall cinematic feel than PotC.

In a lot of ways, I'd say it's simpler than PotC. But it's also more challenging. I personally find PoTC to be more indepth (and for me that means more fun). Pirates! seems more like a coffee break game, to play for 5 minutes when you can't find the time it takes to play PoTC.

(And last I heard, it is no where near as moddable)

I personally think SMPirates! to have more depth than POTC. All POTC have is a 3D representation of ship for you to move about, but Pirates! have dynamic interaction between nations and a dynamic world with immigrants and troop movement between ports. Invasion and being invaded, with diplomatic missions between nations. With mod or an expansion, you can even convert Pirates! into a strategy game of Caribbean, but I don't think POTC has that potential. As for sailing and ship battle accuracy, POTC is not much better than Pirates!

I find pirates to be simple and not near as indepth as POTC.
