POTC running on Storm 2.5 engine

I've tried to run POTC using Age of Pirates engine files. I prefer POTC gameplay but AoP looks so great, specially the sea (with glow effect). Game started on 2.5, but thats it - i couldn't sellect any options, couldn't load/save, nothing. I can see main menu, with buttons and background but i can't use it.

Any suggestions? I searched google but didnt found anything.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Pieter placed a note about this in this forum somewhere
and from memory the answer is negative!

I tried it, but I had no luck. Of course, the presence of Starforce didn't help either: The game refused to run. It seems like you actually got further than I did.

Do you know what the filename is for the main code file in Age of Pirates? In PotC it is "seadogs.c". Perhaps it would work if you would put AoP's engine.exe into PotC's folder and rename PotC's seadogs.c to the name of the main AoP code file?

I didnt liked starforce, so I disabled it. I cracked AOP and used those cracked files. I think the main problem might be that *.C file. In my opinion there isn't any technical issues, we just need to learn POTC scripts how to use Storm 2.5. Anyway, I'll check that C file.

I've setup AoP with Cyberops Supermod and there is no Stareforce
to be seen!! Maybe you should give that a go?!!

Could anyone give me the cracked AoP ENGINE.exe? I'd like to see what happens when using it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Hey Pieter.

Here is the cracked AOP engine file: <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/ENGINE.exe" target="_blank">AOP Engine.exe for your testing pleasure</a>

I did a bit of research on the possible modding of some of the parameters for the AOP Storm engine i.e. 2.5 when I first joined this here fine board. I depicted my research in the following thread: <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8842&hl=" target="_blank">Modding Strom engine parameters ... or ... surfin' the edge dude!</a> , so please go there for some inspiration on the topic. I also wrote down my analysis in a document which I have linked to here: <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/AOPCT_Surfing_the_edge.doc" target="_blank">Surfin' the edge Dude!</a>

Looking forward to your analysis.

All the best
Frans

Putting the AoP ENGINE.exe straight into the PotC folder doesn't work. It terminates without giving any clear error message. Could you possibly also make all other files in the main AoP folder available, along with the MODULES folder and possibly the PROGRAM folder?

... like fer sure maan ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jack1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j1" border="0" alt="jack1.gif" />

First up is the main folder stuff (all exept the engine.exe, uninstall stuff and the big protect.exe file): <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/main.zip" target="_blank">PULL!!! .... Zzziiingggg .... BAMM</a>
Then the protect.exe file that goes into the main folder: <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/protect.zip" target="_blank">PULL!!! .... ZzziiinggggZzziiinggg .... BAMM....BAMM</a>
Then we go to the Modules folder: <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/Modules.zip" target="_blank">PULL!!! .... ZzziiinggggZzziiinggg .... BAMM ... 'Faul! Two with one!'</a>
And finally we hit the Program folder: <a href="http://www.cmoc.dk/AOP/Program.zip" target="_blank">PULL!!! .... FLUSssshhhhh ... 'Arrhhhhh'</a>

Thanks a lot. I'll see what I can do when I can find the time to try something. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

.....but try to click it and find out! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

yes, a comedian or a clown, that's for sure! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Tried putting POTC program/resource/modules in AOP directory and laoding screen loaded and then crashed, was able to gnerate a microsoft engine ini. error report and there are several values the engine doesn't agree with, one being character animations are not set, other values are greek to me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hmm. Seems to me that this is either really complicated or really impossible. Shame really. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Supose it could be done, scripting the AOP engine to match POTC, only one I know of that has messed with the AOP engine successfully and has the tools to do so is Cyberops <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

someone contact him then! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" /> . if you dont ask, you dont get!

Today i've tried something else - to put POTC whole /resource folder into AoP. The game started, i was in main menu (POTC main menu), but I still couldn't sellect anything. Every button click - nothing happens. The good thing is that there wasn't any CTD, no crashs, freezings etc.
Assuming that both /resources are pretty much the same (ogg, tga and some 3d models etc.) IMO it's all about those c files.
Now we need some C wiseman, someone who can compare seadogs.c files and tell us what to change and where.

maybe there is only the main-menu, who needs other features.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ...who knows? Maybe the game will run well... we only can see it, if we come through main-menu ...
