Probs with textures now, sighhh... i.e. whitewashed maze

Kiffer

Landlubber
I am having so many issues, aren't i? Sighhh. So sorry for asking so much.

Anyway, the problem this time is a pretty big one. I just entered the maze on Devil's Island. At first i was running all over the place trying to figure out where to go. After an hour of wandering i decided to search the forums, to see if anyone else asked...

What i got was that i was supposed to look at the floor for markings. The prob is, there are NO markings! I wandered around a bit till i realised the maze doesn't look as it should. It's like totally whitewashed... the floor, ceiling and wall textures do not appear. When i enter a new are in the maze (where a splash screens loads first), the maze looks as it should, then the textures disappear and it becomes whitewashed again.

The outside of the temple was the same thing, but dark gray, but i could manage, though it took me a moment to find the last flight of steps, cos they were not discernible, except in certain angles.

And the beach i landed during the Mefisto quest kept changing from textures to non textures... i wasn't bothered about it at the time, figured it wasn't important...

... but now it is. Please... help <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

And once again, sorry for making so much noise. Catalina must be tired of seeing my name on new posts by now :p

*edit* if no one knows how to solve this, maybe someone can just tell me where to run in that maze? Er, yeah :p

Heh, no I'm not tired of seeing your name on new posts, Kiffer - it's a good thing to post your problems - that's how we get things solved and how we help a lot of people who might have these problem in the future! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Here are a few suggestions for ya, regarding your dilemma...

I don't recall if you've ever told us your video card. Whatever it is, find out if you have the latest drivers. Also something you might try would be to get the Omega drivers, they seem to do wonders for people with this problem. <a href="http://www.omegadrivers.net/" target="_blank">http://www.omegadrivers.net/</a> Another thing you might do is turn off `anti-aliasing` for your vid card.

And aside from that, try CaptainRed's great maps of the labyrinth (and other places) - <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/sutra62072.php#62072" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net/sutra62072.php#62072</a> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Cat an' Kiffer, this be soundin' a lot like de "grey floor" problem dat both 8Q an' Fred Bob has seen in Build 12 in a couple o' places like de IM Shore an' some udder, fer which drivers did not seem tew hep! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I'm using a Geforce 4 MX440... yeah, not a great one but i was `cash-constrained` when i was getting my system :p

My drivers are up to date, though. I'm kinda stickler for gettng up to date stuff, heh.

I'll check out the omega drivers thing... hopefully it works...

And thanks for the map! That'll solve things if the above doesn't work.

Eh, nobody will judge you by your puti. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Because of PotC uses realy big textures, maybe that your graphics device isn't capable to handle. With how much RAM is your graphics device equipped?

64MB

*edit*

Anyway, that worked! Installing the Omega driver, i mean. Though i still have probs occasionally like when i go to the shore the sand is gray, but that's alright. I got to finish the main quest.

Thanks, fellas!

Ah, EXCELLENT!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> Glad that worked! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

But if you satisfied, that will be enogh. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Actually, i might want to lower the resolution. It's a wee bit laggy now. Not seriously, but it sort of got slightly worse after i started using 4 Manowar MMs, for some reason. Or maybe it's just my imagination. But as long as i can play, is fine <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

MOW's are <b>s - l - o - w - !</b> That may be part of your problem, Kiffer! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Slow as in, they move slow? Yeah, i know that. But it's like awesome when you enter a fight with a Spanish or French fleet consisting of about 9 class 1 and 2 ships, and you just sink one after another. Or when i attack isla muelle and woohoo, i finish it in a few minutes <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

But what i meant by lag is that the game visibly "jerks" and pauses randomly especially like when i am firing cannons. Like there was this time when three of my ships coincidentally was firing at the same time at another Manowar, and it hung for a few minutes before the log came out that i sunk the thing.

Talk about DRAMATIC, hahahah! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I don't really mind the lag, though. It only started now that basically the game is over - the main quest, that is - and there's nothing much else to do except keep attacking.
