Solved Purchasing a ship for negative amount?

I want to buy a brig, The only ship i own at the moment is a man-o-war but when I try to buy the brig I show up as saying, "want to buy for -xxxxxxx?" Then when I clicked on yes it sells it for me.

Is there anyway to stop this? I want to keep both ships.

Ahoy Grant Matey,

The reason you see the negative amount is because in the column to the left where your own ships are, your ship is automatically selected. You need to click on one of the empty spaces below your ship. Also you must have an officer available to assign to the newly purchased ship or the purchase cant occur.
