Question about sailing in POTC

TiMEDANCE

Landlubber
Hello!!

I am newbie in case of POTC....

I saw some screenshots of POTC ...and it still looks fine... but I have one question about the sailing-system..

If you are on the small worldmap, is it possible to turn to the 3D-sailview like in AOP-CT ???

Change to the 3D sailing? Why that be via the help of that handy Spacebar key (if memory serves...haven't actually played in a while).

cause the game should be more realistic, when you sail in 3d ...

You can also accelerate / if it lasts too long... or ??

Is it possible / or not ?? Or have the build13-mod this feature??

Well it is more fun in 3D, but tests have shown that progress made in 3D mode doesn't register when you return to World Map mode (unless you are near enough an island to have moored). Rather limits sailing in 3D mode if you sail for hours then find when eventually you go to World Map mode you haven't actually moved at all.
Does that help at all? Captain Dan the Lunatic Wolf did an experiment on this in May I think by trying to sail from one island to another in 3D, and I think Hook has done something similar (though my brain may be faulty).

I once sailed from Redmond toward Hispaniola (I think) for 5 game hours without going to world map. I started seeing something that looked like the bottom of some islands, but nothing above them. I went to world map and immediately got the "land ho" and was right next to the new island. So it should be possible, but it's not implemented well.

Aye that he is hehe, but we'll drink to him anyways... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

Of *COURSE* I'm insane! Otherwise I'd be doing something rational. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I'd recently sailed a couple of times around Redmond, sailing in and out of coves. Took about 5 game hours (that's only 1 hour real time). Last trip around Redmond I had over 20 knot winds the whole way, only took 3.5 game hours. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

So, I figured I was up for a sail to another island. I wanted to see what would happen anyway. If I pointed my spyglass in the direction of the old island, I could still get readings on stuff there. Long ways off.

I guess it says a lot about the game that simply sailing around is fun. I've spent enough time in Virtual Sailor on the HMS Victory, but this is much better.

Yeah, shooting cannons was conspicuously absent from Virtual Sailor. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hook

Actually: Weapons are supported by Virtual Sailor. It just depends on if they are added to the model. And they don't work quite as well as PotC. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
