Question about Skillpoints.

I've been playing Age of pirates about a week or two but i can't seem to find the answer for my question.

My question is simple, is it possible to raise your skill's like the tactics or accuracy or boarding ?? I know it's possible to add abilities as you gain experience but the other skill's i can't seem to make them go up without having to hire officers. Is this possible without editing game files??
If it is please tell me since i haven't got a clue ... and if not what's the point of having skillpoints ?? just another number??.
Ps: I've searched the forum but the answers that have been written doesn't help me with my question.

Yes, you can increase the skillpoints - there should be a little something you can click on beside the double column of current skill points (modified and yours)

Thks for the reply rico but i can't seem to find it.
Also i've uploaded a screenshot via imageshack if you can help me with a visual aid i would be great, also i've edited some starting values, i don't know if it would influence this adition to skill's.

See that yellow cross next to your pointer?
That would be the button to add skill points <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Remember that you can't raise skills (naturally) beyond 10, though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Oh and just so you know,luck,tactics,fencing,and pistols can only be raised by you,meaning if you hire an officer and raise those stats in theyre skill area it won't boost your's or your fleets like the others do.It doesn't mean you can't add points in those catagories for one of your officers,but it won't bennifit you as far as I know,with the exception of fencing,and pistols for your fighters.

Hum i'll try to see if it works, that limitation of 10 didn't know, but i had a thought since beyond 12 it doesn't show the numbers. it only look's blank. I'll give it a try right now. Thks.

what do i have to edit to get more skill points on supermod? anyone know? I try to figure it out myself by changing some numbers in the file but didn't do much =/ need some expert advice =P
