Question: what type of ship can it be?

<!--quoteo(post=267688:date=Jul 8 2008, 05:26 PM:name=Morgan Terror)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Morgan Terror @ Jul 8 2008, 05:26 PM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=267688"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->'slight' correction on my previous estimate: 1590, not 1690. i checked. those ships don't have the upper spritsail.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

And what type is it now??

well, a heavy dutch trader, still. what puzzles me, however, is it's size. it's too big for a ship from 1590, but the rigging is too outdated for 1690. it's probably from somewhere around 1620 to 1640. if you'd have a ship family tree, i'd say it was slightly related to the fleut and spiegelschip. it's a wierd one. it's not flat on the stern, so it can't be a spiegelschip, but it's not quite a fleut either, and it's too sleak for a late galleon. but it's a heavy dutch trader for sure, maybe something in the region of an early pinnace.

I thought you were an expert on ships!! What happened to you, man?! Get it together!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

that thing is a frankenstein monster in terms of ship type! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> what did you expect? anyway, as i already said, heavy dutch trader, probably early pinnace, 1620 to 1640.

LOL. I didn't know one ship could generate so much confusion. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />
