Ransom

I've looked in the manual and I must be blind. I can't work out how, when I've decided to capture captains instead of kill them, how I get the ransom for them. I've just given up and ended up release all the captains I held. I read something along the lines of talking to say the English, when you meet one of their ships, if I have an English captain and there should be an option there. But there isn't. So who do I take these captains to, to claim my ransom?

I'm baring the game, despite all the piss poor bugs. How this game ever was aload to be released is beyond me. The amount of CTD is shocking.

I believe that by releasing them, you're ransoming them. In any case, there doesn't seem to be any other way to be rid of them, once you've captured them.

When I first captured one, I had hoped I'd be able to win his loyalty and get him to join my crew, but no such luck.

Aslong as you chose the option to put him in yer hold, ye should be able to ransom the captain <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Just go to a colony of the same country that the captain belongs to and, when on dry land, release him. You get no notification or experience after doing this, your money just goes up.

Personally I find that once you are at the point where you are capturing captains, the miniscule amount of ransom money they give you just isnt worth the trouble. Enemy captains all end up walkin' the plank.
