Read 'em and weep boys and girls, 2 Ships of the Line

I finally got one. It was not sent as a pirate hunter. It was listed as "New Warship" and had a pesky Sloop of War as an escort. I attacked them both and that SOTL was darn near as quick and nimble as my Royal Sloop. Toughest sea battle I have had yet. I am playing in the 1620's at Rogue level. It was a French ship and it was en route to Coro I think (who was now French).

Funny, it ain't as quick when I command it as it was when I was fighting against it.

I liked your sig so much it inspired me to create my own <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
It be a wordless sig at the moment though.

WTG, <b>pizzapirate, </b>is that nice handsome pirate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/love.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":luv" border="0" alt="love.gif" /> on the left available? I've been looking for a new "Cabin Boy"! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Cap'n Toast:
Congrats on finding one, they aren't the nimblest boat available but they sure are quick compared to the other large boats. Remember, if you want quicker stearing response in combat...reef your sails.

Catalina:
At the moment he's not available.

I havn't seen a ship of the line yet. I'v seen the "new warship" quite a few times but its always been either a royal sloop or a flag galleon, both of which were nearly fully upgraded.

I found a french SotL just leaving Montserrat, which I intended to take over, but I had to do that after I replenished the crew on my new SotL... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

must admit, it was wanting to have a cool signature like cat that inspired me to make a profile too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

And it's a nice one too, CapnNaz! I love old maps... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Found a french SoTL on my second game, in year 1660 (wooohooo! ), west of Nevis. It was a "New warship" too. The tactic to beat it was quite easy: don't shoot any round, just rush and board it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

Well, I must admit I suspect her captain was still recovering from a loooooong night <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well I divided up the plunder last night and had to sell off one of the SOTL <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" />
I'm now going after the Spanish and impressing the French and Dutch since I'm maxed out on the English and Spanish ranks.
I'm adding a bunch of Galleons to my fleet cuz they hold so much but they are so slow. Its funny to see almost your entire fleet showing those "Wait for me!" messages. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

CapnNaz:
That is a nice sig, well done <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Cap'n Toast:
Something I've noticed adding Galleons to my fleet, in the navigation screen your sailing based on your slowest ship. The best performance from a SOTL will be in the battle screen where your other ships are not affecting its performance. I think its pretty nibble for such a large ship. I did find a Royal Sloop though last night and I have to agree its pretty maneverable.

Catalina:
So what kind of mods do you do?

Ahoy Pizza pirate, welcome te PA,luv yer siggy mate, not run inta one O dem SOL yet, probly cause I'm still play'n apprentice level, time tew kick me level up an get one ,although I'd be partial tew de sloop, nar any other ship be as fast an' manuverable <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

skull:
Thanks for the welcome <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />
Don't change your difficultly for just that reason. I found my first SOTL on Apprentice level and the second one on Adventurer level. From the posts I've seen and my own experience, attack alot of French ships and hang around their towns.

Aye,thank ye fer de tip,'ang'n aroun' towns an ports be again me nature fer sure,rather be doin' me loot'n an plunder'n on de high seas,one msst do what one must so <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
