Realistic Fortifications

I will take this opportunity to make a mental note for myself in this thread and in the process gather some opinions from my fellow forum members.

While trying to put a new fort model to replace the medieval castle at redmond, I realized that forts are somehow classed like a ship, only that they cannot move (correct me if I am wrong), so I had the idea of adding locators to them to give them gun crews that run over the esplanades like the ships crews that run over the decks, so my question is, is it possible to do this and is it possible to control the fort´s batteries, like you do with your ship?

Welcome back! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

As far as gun crews: Would be fun, but adding them seems rather complicated. People have been having trouble with adding crews to ships for many months. Also: You might not even see them from the distance you usually see forts. It IS a good idea though and if it can be done: GREAT! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

As promesed, I have been working on some models and one of the is this Fort Charles in the old port Royal, when I asked for peolvle to help me find information and plans of this fort, I forgot goole earth existed, the lads here were very helpful but like me they all found out with dissapointment that this fort is one of the least historiated in the caribbean, so no floor plans were available, but with luck google earth saved the day.

This is a very good museum model showing how was the fort in colonial times

Like with all other english forts that had no dutch influence in their designs, what I really like about Fort Charles is its combination between medieval and modern manners of fortification, by the standars of the time it could be regarded as an outdated and weak walled fort, wich in a way was true, but its location and firing angles made up for any deficiencies that it may had.

Nice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'd give you some help, but I know nothing of 3d modeling. :p

Great forts. Are they in the game yet? Would be a wonderful addition to Build13.

Nice work there, CC.
